Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli left his extensive art collection to the state in 1879. Today, the museum houses works by Pollaiuolo, Botticelli, Mantegna, Cranach, Tiepolo and many others. On display are paintings, sculptures, carpets, weapons, and archaeological relics.
