What To Expect
Our first stop is Peredelkino, the writer's village which lies just 5 kilometers outside the Ring Road, in the south-western are of a fir-tree forest. It is a materialized history of modern Russian literature as all prominent Russian men and women of letters lived there from as early as 1935.
Next is a museum dedicated to Boris Pasternak, a Russian Orthodox of Jewish blood, who earned a Nobel Prize for the novel Doctor Zhivago in 1958. He declined to receive the prize under pressure from the Soviet government which considered the book as anti-Soviet. His dacha was turned into a memorial museum maintained by his daughter Natalia. The museum contains unique books, manuscripts, paintings, rare photos and other materials connected to the life and work of Boris Pasternak, his famous novels, "Doctor Zhivago" and history of the Russian literature.
