Wander through the scenic German countryside on your way to the legendary extravagance of the German castles Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Known for their elaborate construction and world-famous architecture, these two extraordinary structures were dreamed up by Germany's own Ludwig II, also known as the Swan King.
Find out why many believe Neuschwanstein inspired Disney's storybook castles and get ready to feel like you're living a real-life fairy tale. Hidden in the seclusion of the mountains, German King Ludwig II built two of his dream castles: Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Both testify to the vision of Bavaria's fairytale King.
Departing from Munich, you'll first visit Linderhof Castle, a French rococo-style castle inspired by Versailles itself and surrounded by immaculately manicured gardens. A quick shopping and photo stop in the charming village Oberammergau will recharge your batteries for the second half of your day. You'll arrive at idyllic Neuschwanstein Castle around 13:00, where you're free to enjoy approximately 4 hours to explore the castle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my Mehrtagesticket at the entry?
Yes, you can use your Mehrtagesticket (Bavaria Castles Pass) at the entry to both Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. At the day of the tour you will be asked to pay 2 Euro reservation fee at each castle.
Mary Ann was not only multilingual, she was fun and warm. She really enrished the trip and was very sweet to my little daughter.
We think it should have been made clearer that this trip required a degree of walking and included 363 steps in the castle.
I had a great time visiting Neuschwanstein and Linderhot. Our tour guide Marcos is very knowdgeable on history and culture. He is ...very humorous, we kept laughing hearing his narratives. more
I had a great time at Linderhof and Neuschwanstein! In some case, I like Linderhof better. The weather was nice (it rained when ...on the bus). The tour guide was a very nice German guy who spoke very good English with a sense of humor. Linderhof was a beautiful little castle/big villa hidden in Bavaria mountain. Neuschwanstein is 100% fairy tale castle. The trip was quite comfortable. Absolutely love it! more
Our guide Anna was awesome! She was very friendly and informative and helpful. She gave us info on Munich and Germany on our way t...o the castles, and she kept the hour or so ride very enjoyable. The bus we were on was comfortable and clean. I would Absolutely do this again!!!! more
A truly breathtaking tour! Loved every minute of it. Fantastic tour guide, wonderful lunch at the hotel near the castle, and inc...redible scenery. Did not have to wait at all to enter castle as those who were not in the tour did. Plenty of time to explore and take photographs outside the castle. I can't say enough good things about this tour and very friendly, helpful guide who spoke great English. more
The places were beautiful! The Neuschwanstein castle was gorgeous and I really enjoyed the tour.
This is a must see tour. Try to convince the tour guide to go to Neuschwanstein FIRST to avoid crowds and have a more intimate co...nnection with the castle. more
Great program, convenient to fit 3 things into one day. There was enough time to see everything properly. Absolutely fantastic sce...nery! more
Both castles were fascinating and in our opinion we thought Linderhof to be the most interesting. Overall, the day trip was extrem...ely enjoyable. more
A fabulous trip - made more so by our tour guide (she was hilariously funny without knowing it!) and our fellow passengers. The h...eavy snow made it even more atmospheric. The castles are very impressive with wonderful interiors. more
Wonderful.. no more words...
The day was very well organised, and the tour guide, Maria, was very helpful and entertaining.
Very ornate ......sooooo $$$$$$$$!
Awesome tour with a great tour guide. Everything was worth seeing, but of course the Fairy tale Castle was the best.
Really enjoyed the tour. The guide was very informative and the driver got us there and back in a very comfortable bus in one peic...e. We have been advised that Linderhof is best to be visited during summer month, simply because you get to see the fountains( which are boarded up during the winter) and 50,000 flowers. neuschwanstein is beautifull but due to fog we could not see it very well from outside. Still its beautifull setting, you have an option of going in a horsedrawn carriage to the castle but we chose to walk and its up the hill so not good for people with sore legs, back etc condition. Once you reach the castle, the Q is very organized and it you know exactly what time to be there, you have more stair to climb all the way to the 4th floor. Must mention the little village in between Neuschwanstein & Linderhof, you dont get to spend too much time there , but its beautifull and they have a couple of shops open just for tour buses trade so you can buy souveniers etc. Food: you get lunch at The Neuschwanstein and we all went to the restaurant at the bottom of the hill, it was busy but food served quickly, you can also get food in the Inn half way to the castle more
Our tour guide JOSEF was really an expert in history and told us really interesting facts and curiosities... about the castles and important aspects of the city and places we visited.
The only thing to improve would be a little more time to in the places we stopped. more
The excursion was great! Beautiful site. The bus is good; it is equipped with a toilet and running water. The tour guide Markus wa...s hilarious! more
My family and I had no complaints about the tour of the castles. It was fantastic: the tour and the bus ride.
Being one of the wonders of the world and the number one castles this is must see for every tourist in Munich.
Great day of sightseeing
Ursula was a wonderful guide ! The weather was perfect. In my opinion , there was enough time visiting both places.
Our tour guide, Ana, was excellent and really made the trip. She was very knowledgeable and very entertaining!
ANA WAS A MAGNIFICENT GUIDE AND HELPED THE DAY GO BEAUTIFULLY.COULD HAVE SPENT A BIT LONGER IN NEUSCHWANSTEIN.
Very nice :-)
No words, amazing. Castles!!!!!!!
Only one minus village of Oberammergau waste o f1 hour time
This was the best part of our visit to Munich. This tour lasts the entire day and takes you to 2 different palaces plus a small v...illage for souvenir shopping.
You have a choice of tour busses depending upon what language you want to hear spoken by the tour guide. The tour guide was very informative and funny. The tour itself is very well organized and includes a short stop for lunch.
The cost for entrance to the palaces at the time was 21 Euro. The cost for lunch was not included so be prepared to spend at least 15 Euro per person. The souvenir shop does have better prices than you'd find in the city plus the products are made in Germany.
We plan on using City Discovery the next time we visit Munich and visit other palaces. more
Great, beautiful trip!
The time we spent in both castles was to short. We got only very limited impressions, could not enjoy the beauty of these places. ... more
The castles and their grounds and surroundings are beautiful, especially set against a brillian...t blue sky contrasting with the glistening white underfoot.
Buses do not run up to Neuschwanstein castle during the winter season but it is possible to take a horse & cart shuttle to quite near the castle. There were 5 running on December 20th 2013. Each holds about 11 people and the driver. The queue time was at least 30 minutes for us so this in mind in terms of not missing your timed castle tour.
Oberammergau is very picturesque and was a nice stop.
The guide, Gerta, was efficient, helpful and extremely warm. I heard her giving all kinds of travel and local advice to various passengers. Steffan, the driver, was also very helpful.
It seems like a very long day but the longest unbroken journey we had was the 1.5 hours leg back to Munich.
The entire group of people who booked this trip the day we went filled 3 double decker coaches. Each coach, however, had its own guide and did the tour independently of the others. The coach was very clean, cosy and comfortable and had a WC along with cola, water and beer for sale on board.
Do not be put off by the fact that there may be lots of tourists here. It is an absolute 'must see' if you are anywhere ...nearby. Take the pony and carriage ride up the hill for amusement value or if you are infirm. We bought coffee and cake from the cafe right by the pick -up point for the pony rides. IThe ride cost 6 euros per person one way. Our tour guide, Monika, was excellent and very knowledgable, but not over burdening us with information either. The guide at Linderhof was superb. Be prepared to be moved through both buildings quite quickly. This is becasue they have such a vast number of visitors each day. If you linger, you will lose your signal for your audio tour. We were lucky with the weather and it snowed while we were there. The views are just stunning, but bring good shoes if you plan to walk up and down the hill to Neuschwanstein. It is possible to visit under your own steam, but doing a guided tour took away a lot of the angst and made for a very trouble-free trip. We had timed tickets for Neuschwanstein. There s a bit of time for shopping in the visitor centres at both Neuschwanstein and Linderhof and the stop-over at Oberammergau allows time for a quick browse in the local shops. The one recommended by our guide was a bit naff, so we visited Kathe Wohlfahrt (the centre of all Christmas kitsch) but also a good source of genuine German products.Would thoroughly recommend this tour. more
fantastic guide!!!! Oursoula is the best company for a road trip!!!! Thank ypu very much and looking forward to seeing you again........ more
This is an easy way to see both castles in one day. Perfect for those whose time in Munich is limited or for those who would like ...a hassle-free experience. more
Our guide in English, Ana, was extremely competent, giving us a lot of data along the route,,speaking a clear English , easy to un...derstand even for those with other native languages. She was very carefull and kind with every person in the group. Thanks a lot, once again, Ana, from a Romanian traveller. more
Excellent Day Trip out. Tour Guide very friendly and Coach very comfortable. Both Castles are something else. You aren't allo...wed to take pictures inside the Castle which makes the whole experience that much more special. more
The tour was wonderful and recommend, the castles are formidable.
Excellent day trip from Munich. Both our guide and bus driver were excellent. We left Munich from in front of the Hauptbahnhof a...t 8 am and returned at around 7 pm. Really is a must see! more
Our guide was very informative during our tour. We had plenty of time to look around, have lunch and view the castle. If in Muni...ch, this would be a tour to book. more
Danielle was an enthusiastic and informative guide. She was engaging, pleasant, personable and fun! nThe tour of neuschwanstein w...as a bit too rigid (no fault of city tours), but still was informative and entertaining. more
Answers were quick to come. More than satisfied.
I loved it - single traveller! most excellent trip. the guide was more than knowledgeable. well done Josef! the castles are superb..., fairy tale, beautiful. the scenery en route is wonderful too. highly recommended if you're in Munich which is a fabulous city to visit. more
Well worth it
Booking my trip was very easy and straight forward, with no complications at all. Confirmation was sent straight away so I had pea...ce of mind everything was booked and sorted. more
The day started off pretty early at 8.30am in the morning as the tour is packed to a tight schedule. The first stop was at Linderh...of Castle where we got to take a few pictures quickly and were treated to the fountain being switched on before going into the Palace for our guided tour but as soon as it finished we literally had to go back to the coach which meant we didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked but the interior of the Palace is beautiful, but there is strictly no photography allowed.
The next stop on the trip was to the little village of Oberammergau which is famous for putting on the play "The Passion of Christ!" and at the top of one of the mountains you can see a cross. This is a quick 30 minute stopover to stretch your legs and buy souvenirs from the little shops before heading back to the coach and preparing for our remainder of the journey to Neuschwanstein Castle.
Along the way, it is very picturesque and scenic, as you gradually come towards the village of Fussen, you can see the castle if you are sitting on the left, and at first glance it takes your breath away. Once you arrive, you have the option to either walk to the top, catch a bus or ride a horse and carriage which is a lovely option if you prepare your time carefully. The tours inside the castle are set to a specific time so you have to give yourself enough time to get to the top of the castle in time for your tour.
The views at the top are stunning and there is a little platform ridge where you can take pictures of the castle. The inside of the castle itself is quite darkly decorated with dark coloured wood. The outside is literally the star of the show, you've never seen a castle, till you've seen Neuschwanstein, the outside is breathtakingly stunning. Absolutely beautiful.
The Marienbrucke bridge was closed for maintenance and cannot been seen until you are inside the castle. As you walk up to the castle, you can see signs how to get to the bridge but it is closed off. The guide we had said it should be reopened in November 2016 and that they close the bridge every 10 years for maintenance.
Overall this was a great trip and I would thoroughly recommend it, however if you want to spend a lot of time without rushing, you might need to hire a car or find someone who can take you so you can take your time as it is definitely a trip of a lifetime. more
Beautiful trip..good value for your money! No problem booking on line!!
We had a great trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein! The bus was comfortable, and they sold hot and cold beverages onboard. We ha...d plenty of time at each stop, and the guide told us interesting stories about Ludwig II and Bavaria during the trip. I will definitely recommend this trip if you go to Munich! more
Once again we had a great travel experience because of the service given.
It was easy to make recervation for the quided tour and if you have to ask somthing you get quickly answers.
I've already booked my trips to Amesterdam and I was very satisfied.
I would thoroughly recommend this tour. Our guide ***was knowledgeable and personable making the trip very interesting. Loved it a...ll. more
Our tour guide, Joseph, was both informative and entertaining. Loved the personal insights as a native Bavarian and really set a ...great tone and flavor to the history. Really enjoyed visiting Oberammergau. Disappointed that we were only able to visit 2 castles, but the time constraints are understood. Unfortunately, a lot of the sightseeing during the drive can not be as appreciated from the "wrong" side of the bus.
Most of my photos are too large to upload, so I am only able to share a couple. more
Our tour guides were fantastic! The scenery was perfect.
Online it said we would return to Munich at 8:30pm. We returned ar...ound 6:30pm. I would have preferred to have those two hours in one of the amazing places we visited. I felt rushed. more
The tour was wonderful and the guide on the bus excellent. He was nice and perfect.
It's a lovely castle and must-see when going to Bavaria. The place can be really crowded so it's good to bring a pic-nic... to avoid any loss of time more
The restaurant stop was excellent. They were well prepared for the bus visitors, and the service was quick. Food was also excellen...t. more
well organized, everything was perfect.
this tour are amazing, the castle wow just like you are in the wonderland. one day is not enough for this day tour. need extra da...y. value for money. thanks more
A well planned and perfectly executed tour! Worth the trip
This is a must see tour. I thought was going to be too long but actually didn't feel like I had enough time. I will definitel...y be going back to the castle again just to explore all the little shops around the bottom of the castle. I also would like to hike up to king Ludwig"s parents castle that is located across the mountain . The scenery there is picture perfect. I highly recommend it. Warning there is a lot of walking uphill and stairs so be prepared! more
Very relaxing tour with excellent tour guide. Too bad that it was a bit foggy that afternoon which hinder us from taking nice pic...ture of the castle. more
Would highly recommend. When I booked it I was thinking 10 hours is too long . It actually wasn't enough time . I wish I had ...longer to shop in the little shops at all the shops. Our tour guide was magnificent. She was so knowledgeable on everything . I loved the stories . She even helped us after we got off to find a vegetarian restaurant we heard about in the area . I totally recommend this tour. Warning there is a lot of walking so be prepared .Neuschwanstein is on a hill do you will be walking uphill either all or catch a bus or carriage and walk bout 10 min . Also many stairs in castle . It's all interesting beautiful and a workout rolled into one. A must see in Munich more
Had a fun time. The instructor was great as she mixed humour with interesting facts. She was also friendly and very approachable. ...The castle was beautiful and the history amazing. The instructor also recommended great places for shopping and a tasty place for lunch.
Improvements could be made in the pickup address which was provided during the ordering process. It was not very clear and took my wife and I sometime to find the pickup location.
I would certainly recommend this tour to my family and friends. more
Lovely coach with refreshments on board and a toilet. Barbara our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the places we visited.... The visit to Oberammergau was a bonus. We would have liked more time but selfish people were constantly late back to the coach, which eats into you time at the attractions. Still a wonderful day out. Totally recommended. more
Great tour guide and perfect amount of time at each place.
Firstly the practicalities. Having everything arranged for you makes a huge difference on this trip, particularly at Neuschwanste...in. When we arrived at around 14:45, the queue for tickets looked about two hours long, and people were being sold tickets for 6pm! Being able to just arrive and get handed our tickets would have been reason enough to book this tour.
Both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein were absolutely breathtaking, totally unique in their design and location, a remarkable day out. For the tour itself, the coach was comfortable, the itinerary didn't feel rushed, and Elizabeth our guide was charming, friendly, and very informative, the perfect host! Thomas the driver also gave a comfortable safe drive.
The castles are a must see in the Munich area, and City Discovery tour of them made the whole thing so easy and relaxed, highly recommended! more
My wife and I really enjoyed the tour.
The guide Barbara was very knowledgeable.
The couch was comfortable and when ...on the romantic highway, the scenery was beautiful.
IT IS A HARD TRIP BUT IT IS REALLY WORTH IT
Wonderful day trip with great guide ( Francesca) and really good driver (Zarki?) Linderhof and Obermannegau added uniqueness to th...e overall day. Unbelievable views of the Bavarian alps on the way. Overall, a great days outing! more
These castles were so detailed and beautiful.. It really does make you feel like royalty.. The most interesting part was the story... of how the king mysteriously was found in the lake dead.. and all the other stories behind the castle were also very interesting.. more
I was a little anxious since I was by myself, but I am very satisfied with this tour.
At first I thought about taking a pu...blic train and bus to go there, but considering the time and the price, I decided to book this tour. It was a good decision.
It would be better to bring your own lunch that you can have in the bus, because we did not have much extra time to have lunch.
The guide was very nice and spoke in easy to understand English. We exchange snacks and shared tips about good places in Munich, so it was fun.

I have always wanted to visit Germany's Castle's and I was very excited that I was finally able to go.
It was win...ter, so I was worried about the weather, as it started snowing the night before, but before arriving at Linderhof Palace the weather improved. It was a beautiful palace, and the view was just a gorgeous winter scene. The town we stopped at during the tour was also pretty. The main attraction, Neuschwanstein Castle, was beyond my expectations. The guide spoke English, but he was fun and nice, so I don't think there is anything to worry about.
If you are going to Germany I believe this is a must-do tour.

It was a sunny Sunday. We were able to visit two castles with wonderful views.
Linderhof castle had very nice interior. the... local guide explained everything very slowly and comprehensibly. Also, the tour bus guide's explanation was very easy to understand. Japanese audio guide was also very useful. At Neuschwanstein castle, the tour guide told us that we should go to Marien bridge first to take pictures before the tour inside of the castle, and informed us very well about the departure time etc.

It was amazing tour including Neuschwanstein castle and Linderhof castle in one day!
We also made a stop at a small, beauti...ful town Oberammergau. I was very much satisfied with this tour!
The scenery of the Romantic Road was very beautiful on the way to both castles. The guide's explanation was very good and I've learned a lot. It is not easy to visit those 3 places on your own, so I highly recommend this tour!

The place I wanted to go the most in Germany was the Neuschwanstein Castle.
It was better than what I expected.
Ther...e was a lot of free time and since they take you by bus to all the main places, it is very easy and there is no way you get lost.
The inside of the bus was also extremely comfortable.

My girlfriend has been obsessed with this castle for a long time, she had already been before as a kid but wanted me to visit this... amazing place with her.
She booked the tour through veltra, they had a great offer. I didn't think i would like it as much as i did as im not a big fan of museums. This was a totally different experience , seeing the castle from inside was beautiful and even though the weather was cold and wet it made the rocks and mountains around look stunning. The bus was so comfortable we slept all the way back to Munich.
I would recommend it to anyone who visits Germany, it gives you a great look of bavaria and is something different to do. more
Informative, funny, and helpful would be the words to describe our tour led by the guide Ursula. At the tour date, there was some... confusion about which bus to ride, since the buses are separated by guide language spoken and it was unclear which bus was for English-speaking guide. But once we found the right bus, we've found the bus clean and comfortable. We were lucky to sit on the second row from the front upper deck, which gave us a great view of the front and around.
Soon our guide Ursula came on board and gave us an overview of München and landmarks. The bus was selling drinks, and we naturally assumed it would be overpriced, but we were pleasantly surprised at the decent price. Ursula gave us plenty of alerts for photo-ops for mountains, buildings, and other beautiful scenaris as well as cultural and historical back grounds. There was no pushy souvenir sales or herding people into a shop, but only informing of shopping opportunities and restaurant options.
Ursula was firm, clear, yet cool about reminding us of our time. We went through the tour of Linderhof, the town with Passion Play, and finally Neuschwanstein. Unfortunately, we were delayed before the castle (there is always this tourist with disregards for the time!), we were left with shorter than expected time at the castle. We opted to wait for horse carriage and it was my undoing; there was a HUGE group of elderly tourists waiting for the carriage, and we ended up missing our ticket entry time.
Fortunately we were able to change our entry time but had to rush the tour of the castle. We were running very close to the departure time and afraid we would end up being "that" tourist that delays the tour bus. Fortunately, running downhill was much faster and we made it on time. We wish we had extra 10-15 min to fully appreciate the castle but we still enjoyed the beautiful exterior & interior of the castle. All in all, we would highly recommend the tour, especially with Veltra discounts! more
We made a right decision to book a day trip to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles through Veltra. The tour was excellent and tou...r guide was very knowledgeable. Our tour guide bought group entry tickets for us and we didn't have to stay in a very long line to buy them. We just showed up at the entry gate at specified time. It was enough time allocated to explore both castles. more
It was pretty gloomy the day that we had the tour, but that didn't really spoil the trip. Despite the grey skies, I could say... that Neuschwanstein castle was definitely one of the most beautiful sights I've ever been to. It's a pity that the stops at Linderhof and Oberammergau were a bit too short, but at least that gave us more time to enjoy the the Schwangau area. We even had spare time in the afternoon to walk around the nearby Hohenschwangau castle and lakes. The trip itself was organized well. The tour guide Ursula shared interesting stories during the long bus rides, while we looked on the lush Bavarian countryside. Definitely worth it! more
Trip very well organised. Our guide, Josef, was excellent. He was very informative and gave just the right amount of details. He ...was a lovely, friendly person. The areas we visited were amazing, so beautiful! The only downside to the trip was the torrential rain, and nobody could do anything about that obviously!!! Thoroughly recommend this tour. more
My partner and I recently did the Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles tour from Munich and while we were initially excited for th...e beautiful scenery and destinations itself, it was the entire day complete with a guided tour and coach ride that really made the experience one not to forget.
Our tour guide was great and offered so much information and knowledge about Bavaria that was practically invaluable and we simply could not have gained if we did not participate in this activity.
It was completely professional and really made our day a great experience, one that we will not forget. As international travellers, we had seen a lot of ins and outs of airports and train stations, and i was hesitant that this tour was going to be another stressful travelling experience but it was the complete opposite.
We got to see and do everything we wanted, and the castles themselves were outstanding and breath taking.
Thank-you to Veltra for making our experience in Munich as great as it was. more
The only negative was stopping in a little town for half hour just for shopping. Rather have spent more time at Lindehof or Neusch...wanstein. more
Well arranged trip with good and relaxed guidance. Visit to Linderhof complemented very well the main purpose of the trip (Neuschw...anstein). Better to see both the castles than just the famous one. more
The day was exhausting. It might make more sense to have the tour to the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwanstein castles and not Linde...rhof (Linderhof should be on a separate tour). The stop in Oberammergau seemed rather pointless to us. The information the tour guide gave was interesting, but to stop there to shop was a waste. Especially since we did not eat lunch until after 1:45pm. more
Bus is comfortable. Guidelance is not bad. I have no complaints
We did not have enough time at Neuschwanstein to see everything. But the views were amazing... I would have preferred to tour the... grounds of both castles more than their interiors.
Otherwise, this was a great trip for the money! more
The tour was very well organised and enjoyable, but spoilt by one little point - at the end of the tour when we returned to Munich... the guide actually asked for a tip ! more
Beautiful castles! We loved it.
My wife and I liked the tours and the guides were great. The downside was that we felt we were rushed to get back to the bus and w...ould have liked to have more time at each stop. I realize to get to so many stops you can't take the time at each stop. Maybe leave earlier in the day or cut down on the number of stops to give more time. more
This is a fabulous trip our guide Betiina was lovely and very informative. The castles are fabulous and the Bavarian countryside i...s wonderful. It's a hard walk up a very long & steep hill so wouldn't recommend this for the infirm or elderly. The people of Munich are very friendly and helpful. more
Terrific tour. I actually enjoyed the tour of Linderhof almost as much as seeing the great Neuschwanstein - Linderhof is a beauti...ful treasure in a more intimate setting. But of course, Nueschwanstein was fantastic! more
A nice day out to the mountains. The first castle may be very small but along with the gardens was lovely. Wish we had another 30 ...mins there. The 45 mins alotted for Castle tour and taking a few snaps was too short. It took 10 mins to walk to the castle. The next stop was a small village. Nothing special. A few places for a drink and food and shops. Would have rather stayed at the first castle instead of this. Then we moved on to the main event. A place to eat and see the famous castle in the hill. Sadly on my trip it was being renovated as it had scaffolding on half of it. And was cloudy so not the nicest view. Still lovely place. Castle interior is not that much to see really as it was never finished but it was still impressive. A long day but again worth it if you want to sample the countryside outside Munich. Good tour guide who told us a lot about what we were seeing. Bit annoyed that I nearly did not get on the coach as they were selling seats on the day even though I had my ticket for weeks before. My seat should have been reserved. Get there early to ensure you get a seat. more
The castles are fantastic, they are a must do, it is great to do the tour because you see both castles, when most people only hear... about Neuschwanstein. Inside and outside are both fabulous. Its good to do the tour if you cant be bothered with public transport, but to be honest it is a lot cheaper to go yourself (thugh you will wait in line a lot to get your tickets). Also didnt find the tour information given by the tour guide all that interesting, I think it was the deliverance really, spoke like she was speaking to children.. very slowly. more
Despite of the fact that both castles are not far from each other, it is very hard to reach both in one day using public transport....
As we had now a car in Germany the bus excursion was a wright decision. There was enough time to view all that can be needed.
Additionally the guide in our bus was very friendly and professional woman. So we hadn't any trouble during excursion.
It was our first time to order excursion in advance via Internet from other country but from this side all also was more than suitable.
Beautiful castles and landscapes and a wonderful guide, Ana, she really made the day :)
At Linderhof the party was divided and we could hear and see most things but at Neuschwanstein it was one big group and we missed ...out on a lot of the comentary. more
Please identify all of the costs for the tour. Do not hide the entrance fees until after the booking has been made. The extra 40 E... per couple is a significant surprise. Marcos is a terrific tour guide. Give him a raise!! more
I liked this trip very much. I will recommend it
A very nice tour. I would recommend finding someplace different to eat lunch that the restaurant the bus company suggests. It'...;s not the best food and the dessert was the worst I've tried.
The tours of the two castles were very nice, although only 30 min or so each. Overall, the tour was very nice! more
I would prefer to visit also the linderhof cave.
I enjoyed this tour. It gave a picture not only of Neuschwantstein castle but also of Linderhoff. I enjoyed the stop in Oberammaga...u as well. Great little town and very picturesque in winter!
All in all, you can do Neuschwanstein on your own fairly easily. But if you want to see a bit more then my advice would be take the tour. more
Very beautiful castles - trip and entrance prices a little expensive but maybe to be expected with such a popular trip.
It was a great day. The guide was very good and the castles are great.
not enough time in any of the 3 locations, also I think it was overpriced !
too crowded but it worth...both castles are very beatiful and with the assistance of this tour much more easy to visit.
Coach was perfect and comfortable. Particularly I would like to thanks to guide tour Maria who was very kind and had perfect Engli...sh skill. more
Overall this was a great trip. The bus was comfortable and the the itinerary was broken up to keep the drive times between stops ...relatively short. The sites were well worth seeing. Time at the actual sites (interior tours) were somewhat short, but tha is dictated by the sites not the tour bus company. more
Really enjoyed the day, it was well organised and timing just right.
one of the more popular day trips, bus left at 8am even though it was scheduled for 830 so not sure if there were extra buses as i...t was busy season during Oktoberfest. Linderhof was nice but a bit rushed. would be nice to have an extra 20 mins to spend time on the grounds and see the grotto. Neuschwanstein is only about a 30 min tour but we had a long 2 hour window waiting for our timeslot. they could maybe use extra time at linderhof here. otherwise a great day trip. more
We have been many times in Munich but we were first time in this kind of Day Trip. The schedule of the Day Trip went very well. Bu...t perhaps the timetable was little bit tight because we have to have meals quicly before the Castle Neuschwanstein. There were so many people there at the same time. The Day Trip tour is good, easy, nice and safe way to see Bavarian in different ways. We also got to know new people from other country during the trip. It was easy to follow the Guide`s English language because of clear articulate. It was also nice to hear about history and present of Munich and Bavarian. Many thanks for the Guide and the Driver of the bus. They took care of us very well. We recommend. more
It has been great experience travelling with Gray Line and I was satisfied from the booking reservation until the day of the tour....
If I may have a negative comment, it would be for the extra fees charged on top of the normal prices.
6,50 for linderhof and 11 for the castle do not equal to 23 €
I understand that we have to be charged for previous booking maybe but not that much difference
And some of us got the feeling agency was charging the difference! It has not been well explained! more

Guide & driver did really well.
We really enjoyed the whole trip! Both of the castles were beautiful places to visit. The bus trip was very well organised and our... tour guide gave us lots of interesting information about the history of the castles and the area as we were travelling to the different stops. There was plenty of opportunities to stop for food and drinks and they had even made a lunch reservation for us at the last stop so we did not have to wait. The only negative was the stop in the small town, personally I didn't think there was very much to see and it would have been nicer to have longer to spend at the final castle as there was a lot to see. Overall great day though and a very good price. more
It was a great tour. I did the Spanish one and the guide was amazing - she was super nice, knowledgeable and accessible. She told ...the stories of both Linderhof and Neuschwanstein in such an interesting way, it makes you yearn for more history! Overall an excellent experience, would recommend. more
Definitely worth a visit. But I would recommend if you could stay over in Fussen and no rush at the castle, that will be better. H...owever, our guide, Elizabeth is very knowledgeable and made our trip more fun. more
That is a great opportunity for visiting the castles, however the stop at the village of Oberammergau is completely pointless. The... stop is VERYYYY short, and you have no time at all to either explore or shopping in the village. In my point of view, this stop should either be longer (so it would be useful) or nonexistent (why stop if you don't have time to explore?)
The visit in both castles are well organized and very worth it. We had a good time visiting the castles and I really reccomend these visits to everyone!!! more
This is our first trip to Munich and both my husband and myself did this tour on a weekday. It was one of the most popular tours ...from Munich as there were a few full loaded buses departing on the same day for same tour. We arrived at 8.15am sharp and departed soon after for Linderhof castle which will be the first stop. The guide had collect additional EUR24 per pax on bus for the 2 castles entrance fees which are not included. We had managed to catch the "fountain" in front of Linderhof castle at 10am before going for the guided tour which lasted about 20 min. Both interior and surrounds of the Linderhof castle were awesome. But unfortunately, we were not given much time (which is only a mere 20 min) to explore the garden and photos taking considering we still need 5-7 mins to walk out from the castle area to the bus parking area. After departing Linderhof, we were brought to a nearby small town (Oberammergau) for souvenirs shopping/ toilet break for 50 min before the bus depart for Hahenschwangau/Neuschwanstein. I think it will be more appreciative if more time is allocated to Linderhof instead. After arriving at Hahenschwangau town, we were given a few options to travel up to Neuschwanstein castle. We took the shuttle bus (about 15 min) up to the castle. There was at least 2 hours for exploring the surrounds of castle before our 3pm castle guided tour. We had enjoyed the breathtaking scenery from the bridge which you will have the far view of the castle. The guided tour was great and lasted about 35 min. But unfortunately, everyone had to get downhill quite immediately otherwise you will miss the tour bus back to Munich. Overall it was a good tour with beautiful scenery. The castles are worth to visit! more
i joined this tour with my sister.
when we check this tour in japanese site,it was already €10 discount price.
but w...hen i checked in English site,
fortunately i found a review discount!!
it's nice!! (but how come japanese site doesn't have a review discount???)
now it's winter...we worried about weather, but we were really lucky!!
it's such a beautiful day.there were blue sky and white snow.we were happy with that.
we joined the tour on weekdays, not so crowded.
it made us more happy.
our guide was nice. we are quite international group, she organized well.
we needed to wake up early, but it brought a beautiful day.
after we enjoyed the royal castles Neuschwanstein,we could be back to München hbf around 6pm.
if we could have more time to stay at Oberammergau,it's going to be much
at first we thought we go and visit that area by ourself, but it's good to join this tour.
thank you! we had a good day and got great memory in Germany. more
I live in Kolbermoor, Germany....but im originally from Mexico, every time people como to visit we make sure they go to this place.... Few castles out there like this one since most of them were destroyed during war. The tour is great because they throw in Linderhof Palace and the Oberammagau village, our friends really get a feel and look of real bavaria, another great thing about the tour company is that they have audio guide in almost every language out there, so there isnt really a problem for people visiting from russia, portugal, mexico, etc. A lot of tours only offer guides in english and deutsch. I highly recommend taking this tour, the castle is very well worth the visit. more
I have always been in love with Neuschwanstein Castle....ever since i discover it whhen i was 10 years old and my family took a tr...ip to Germany. Now, a decade and a half later I wanted my boyfriend of 5 years to have the experience of visiting this amazing place with me. The tour we booked was great, not only does it take youto the castle but you visit Linderhof palace first and the Obberamagau village, you get too see a lot more of bavaria this way. The staff was super friendly and helpful and they have audio guides in almost any language you need. I highly recommend doing this day tour if you ever go to the south of Germany....amazing place! more
I enjoyed this day tour. The Castles are beautiful, but it would have been nice to have a bit more time in the town before reachin...g the lunch break. The tour guide was knowledgable, although presentation was a bit repetitive at times. more
The tour contains a hotel pick up which is convenient. Aduio guide was provided in 8 languages. A map was given and the coach is c...omfortable. You can buy beer from the driver which is really great in hot summer. I wish to have a tour only go to neischwanstein because we don't have time to see the lake and the marien bridge. more
Very professional organization! Besides punctual it covers exactly what is advertised!
It should have been clear that castl...e entrance was not included on the tour price!
Very good surprise with the guide (Clara), She dominates the historical aspects and gives you all the necessary insights to get the best out of castle visits.
Bus is confortable (driver helpful) and we had no problem to carry our one year old son to the tour, exept for the part that they did not have a baby seat belt on the bus.
Time breaks are adequate especially when you consider the tight shedule.
Visiting a Bavarian village on the way was also a unexpected plus.
Overall recomended more
The tour leader was very efficient.
The stop at Oberammergau is a lost of time.
It is not your fault..., but the visit of Neuschwanstein at a run is a pity as it is impossible to admire quietly such beautiful rooms. more
We missed the tour by five minutes because we were standing on the wrong corner BUT City Discovery was so helpful in suggesting an...other tour and repaying us for this tour. I have used City Discovery tours and HIGHLY recommend them. more
A very interesting tour, but in my opinion not enough time for each visited site. At Linderhof only time for either seeing the cas...tle from the inside OR the beautiful surroundings. A frustrating choise. The visit in Oberammergau very short, also frustrating, because it's a very charming town with lots of good shops. At Neuschwanstein more time was scheduled, but still I found it stressful. You have to consider the long tour up and down the mountain, either walking or waiting for a shuttle bus together with hundreds of other tourists, If it's full, you have to wait another 20 minutes for the next one. Consider that you need time for eating dinner. Consider that the führung in the castle may last a bit longer than scheduled. Consider queues if you want to buy something in the shop at the castle, and use the toilet. If you take a wrong path when walking down, as I did, consider time for finding your way back. I ended up having to run all the way down the mountain, and still couldn't make it back at the time scheduled. The bus waited for me though :-)
All in all: my suggestion is, that you - besides this tour - offer a tour in your program that focuses on Neuschwanstein alone - there is enough to see, to make a day-tour to this site alone. (For those who like, there would perhaps then also be time to see Hohenschwanstein, which is a next-door neighbour to Neuschwanstein.) I would definitely enlist!
You have another day-tour to Linderhof and Oberammergau only, and knowing what I know now, I would have chosen this, I think, PLUS a day-tour to Neuschwanstein only, if it had been possible.
I will add that the guide was VERY nice and she gave us lots of interesting information during the day. more
Our tour guide, Markus, was wonderful. His commentary was informative but lively and quite funny at times. His instructions were c...lear.
I enjoyed the visits to the castles, however I did not really care for the shopping expedition to Oberammergau. Perhaps a variation of this tour that offers longer time at the historical sites and skips the shopping could be offered. more
Tour was interesting, nice to see Bavarian countryside. There were though much too little time to see the castles. Group was so b...ig that you could not even see the room properly and you could not browse rooms on your own because of the time table.
I recommend NOT to eat in the restaurant the guide recommended. Food tastes bad, cold, mashed potato was not from real potatoes and it was really expensive. more
Meeting/Pickup point was easily located.
Bus was clean and sales of drinks available from driver during stop was additional... good service.
It would be good if Bus tour guide advise us of her location on certain timings at Neuschwanstein after our lunch before going up to the castle... in case we need to get last minute information.
It was generally good but Not enough time to See nor to walk around there during limited time. The place was so crowded and it was... impossible to eat and run to the meeting place in the court of castle. We missed a lot of area we wanted to see!!! more
Good day out from Munich with good guide and friendly driver. We enjoyed the visit to Linderhof and also the brief visit to Obera...mmergau as we managed to see the theatre where the passion plays are produced. However, we were very disappointed in the visit to Neuschwanstein. We had a few hours stay which was taken with a long but wonderful walk up to the castle and then were basically herded into a very short guided tour of the castle. This was not the fault of the tour company but the way the castle tours were operated - typical tourist trap! Frankly, we thought the Residenze in Munich was by far the best value for money and certainly surpassed the Neuschwanstein experience. The travel through Baveria was lovely. more
The worst guide I never ever seen in my life.
