What To Expect
The tour begins with your coach pickup from Nadi hotel and into the Sigatoka Valley for some fabulous views of Fiji's famous "Salad Bowl" - known for its rich fertile soil and a colorful patchwork of fruit and vegetable crops.
Learn the fascinating history about the notorious Tongan warriors who reigned in this area and catch glimpse of the ancient hill fortresses of Tavuni and Matanavatu. On the banks of the river, you will participate in an authentic "kava" ceremony and a delicious picnic lunch before taking the bamboo raft across to Toga Village, named in memory of their Tongan heritage.
From here, we take a short and fun walk towards a natural tropical garden setting to the entrance of the "Naihehe caves," fortress of Fiji's last cannibal tribes. It was ruled by a pagan priest and hundreds of people lived inside for months. It boasts of fabulous natural features like stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and underground springs but it is its history that makes this cave particularly special.
From the cave, we take a 15 minute walk through native farms down to the river then board the bamboo raft, known as "bilibili" in the local language, for a ride down the river. After about a half hour ride, we will arrive at a landing where the coach awaits you for a transfer back to the hotel.
