Takayama World Heritage Shirakawa-go and Kanazawa 3-Day Tour from Nagoya

The pacing and coverage of the trip was very relaxing, impressive and scenic, being our first time in Japan. Truly, it brought out the cultural and traditional beauty of Japan. We were so happy and appreciative of the excellent and efficient service of our tour guide, Kasuko. ...Roxanne E., Philippines – See more reviews

Don't restrict your historical experience to just the main sites that people visit!

See Takayama, known as "Little Kyoto," and its preserved historical structures and environment. Mingle with the locals at the thatched roofed village of Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage site. Visit Kanagawa, home of Kenroku Garden, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan, and admire the ceramics at Kutaniyaki.

Day 1: Nagoya - Takayama

Assemble at Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel at 11:20 and board a limited express for Takayama. Visit Takayama Yatai Kaikan Hall where colorfully decorated traditional festival floats are displayed, the Kusakabe Folkcraft Museum which was formerly the residence of powerful merchants under government patronage, and Kami Sannomachi Street where traditional Japanese wooden houses are preserved.

Day 2: Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa

Enjoy a leisurely morning shopping and interacting with the locals at Takayama Morning Market then board a motorcoach to Shirakawago, designated in 1995 as a World Heritage site. Stop at Shirakawago Observatory for a panoramic view of the village before proceeding to Wada House, the oldest and largest remaining gassho-zukuri house in the village. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch and head to Kanazawa.

Day 3: Kanazawa - Kyoto

Go sightseeing in Kanazawa in the morning and see Namagachi Samurai District, the former Samurai Residence (Nomura Residence) and Kenrokuen Garden. Visit Higashi Chaya District, a historic entertainment district with teahouses where geisha perform, and stop at Hakuza (Gold Leaf Shop) before departing for Kyoto. You will be dropped off at a hotel in Kyoto.
