Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive in Kenya and travel along the bustling streets of Nairobi city. Once a swamp but now called the 'green city in the sun', Nairobi is a relatively multicultural city with a range of cuisines, museums and cultural centers to enjoy.

Accommodation: Hotel (1 night)

Day 2: Kisii

Weave through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley into Kenya's fertile highlands. Stock up on essential supplies in the hilltop town of Kisii - the last stop before the adventure safari begins. It is a large town set in a fertile, hilly part of Kenya and grows an abundance of bananas, pineapple, sugarcane and coffee beans.

Accommodation: Dormitory (1 night)

Day 3: Lake Victoria

Finding itself part of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, Lake Victoria is Africa's largest lake and home to a big population on both its shores and within its waters. Watch master soapstone craftsmen at work and perhaps collect a few of their carvings. Travel across the border into Tanzania and mingle with the locals in Musoma's lively marketplace. Tonight, stay on a quiet stretch of shoreline beside one of the world's largest lakes.

Accommodation: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Days 4-5: Serengeti National Park

Teeming with animals and home to the famous migration of the wildebeest, the Serengeti is a marvel with rolling plains, iconic acacia trees and mesmerizing skies. Be awed as the famous grasslands and river valleys of the Serengeti unfold on game-viewing safaris. Tanzania's world-renowned plains are home to Africa's Big Five - lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffaloes - plus a host of other fascinating species including zebras, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeests, giraffes and an abundance of birdlife. Once tucked up safe and sound at camp, be lulled to sleep by the nocturnal chatter of the remote African wilderness.

Accommodation: Camping (2 nights, with basic facilities)

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Camp on the rim of the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater. With endless views of jagged volcanic peaks and open grasslands below, this is one of the most spectacular camping spots in the world. Photographic opportunities abound in the Ngorongoro Crater, a massive volcanic caldera with so many animals, it's hard to know where to look first.

Accommodation: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Day 7: Meserani

Jump in a 4x4 and embark on a mind-blowing safari across the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Thousands of resident animals live in this lush landscape, including elephants, rhinos and lions. Visit the town of Mto Wa Mbu and browse the colorful marketplace to experience quintessential African village life. Set up camp in Meserani. Home to a bar covered in money and paraphernalia, a rotating community of Overlanders and a number of venomous snakes, of course, Meserani Snake Park is a true Tanzanian legend.

Accommodation0: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Day 8: Nairobi

Travel across open plains and through Arusha, a regional centre at the foot of Mt Meru, on the return journey to the busy streets of Nairobi.
