What To Expect
Your royal journey begins from the Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi where you'll be welcomed with ceremonial greetings and some refreshing mock tails. Check-in is at 16:30. You will then be escorted to your cabin as we start our week long journey through the magnificent state of Rajasthan. Enjoy a royal feast on board for dinner as we continue to Jodhpur.
Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan and is famous for its magnificent Mehrangarh Fort. We'll visit the impressive fort after breakfast, and see the lavish Umaid Bhawan Palace, a fine example of Raiput architecture, built in the 20th century. After you have lunch at the beautiful 5-star deluxe Heritage Hotel, you'll be transported back to the train via luxury coach as we continue to Udaipur. Dinner will be served on board.
Upon arrival at the beautiful city of Udaipur, you'll visit the City Palace where lunch will be served. A trip to the Crystal Gallery follows in the afternoon, as well as a visit to the Vijay Stambha or the "Victory Tower" and the Kirti Stambh or the "Tower of Fame" at Chittorgarh. You will also have an opportunity to witness the sound and light show at the majestic Chittorgarh Fort. You will then be transported back to the train via luxury coach where dinner will be served.
We'll start the day with an exciting game drive to the Ranthambore National Park, which is home to a variety of birds, tigers, hyenas and jackals. A safari canter will take you back to your train where breakfast will be served. We continue to Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan where you'll be transported via an air-conditioned coach to the Amber Fort. We then continue to the Hawa Mahal or the "Palace of Winds," which is a remarkable five-story building along the main street of the old city. This is followed by a visit to Albert Hall and the City Palace. Dinner will be served at a luxury hotel where you can watch a cultural program.
After breakfast, you'll visit the Western Group of the Temples of Khajuraho which dates back to the Chandela dynasty. You'll have lunch at a five-star hotel and continue to the Southern Group of the temples. Witness the amazing light and sound show before heading back to the train for dinner.
Go on a boat ride along the Ghats of the River Ganges. "Ghats" are a special types of embankments that are actually long flights of wide stone steps leading down to the river. We'll head back to the train for breakfast before visiting Sarnath. You will also have the opportunity to witness the Aarti ceremony on the Banks of the River Ganges. Dinner will be served on board the train as we depart for Agra.
Agra, which is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is a vibrant city of culture, art and religion. After breakfast, you will visit the Red Fort which was the residence of the Mughal emperors of India for nearly 200 years. Lunch will be served at the Palace Hotel. No trip to India would be complete without paying a visit to the Taj Mahal, the pristine monument of undying love built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. A luxury coach will take you back to the train where dinner will be served.
You'll arrive at Delhi at approximately 07:00. Breakfast on board will be served before you disembark the train at Safdarjung Railway Station.
