With 3,900 exhibits and artifacts, the Bishop Museum offers a unique look through the history of Hawaii and Polynesia as well as guided tours and a Planetarium.
Established in 1889 in memory of the late Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the Bishop Museum is the largest museum in Hawaii and also houses the world's most comprehensive collection of Polynesian cultural artifacts and natural history specimens. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Honolulu, explore the grounds and examine the feather capes and weapons of ancient chiefs, watch exclusive features at the famed J. Watumull Planetarium, see the personal belongings of Hawaiian kings and queens and even see molten lava at the Science Adventure Center.
Given I love history and being of pacific island descent I thoroughly enjoyed this. Tours were well versed and the halls had levels of knowledge and artefacts that were quite fascinating. The Kings Room also had an air of the Kings being in the room with you. Great for kids too as the science center very educational but enjoyable.
