Fishing was great and the crew was nice. Unluckily wasn't the weather the best

although we did not catch a lot of fish the scenery was great the captain and crew were very friendly and hospitable I will go out... with them when i return to hawaii. Excellent trip for families or first time fisherman. more

My Dad and I just went on the Daytime Bottom Fishing trip and we had a blast. My Dad caught the most fish of anyone on the boat! ... I only caught one but it was really pretty. Some people caught fish you could eat so they cooked it on the back of the boat and we all got to try it. The rest of the lunch was local Hawaiian BBQ and we both liked it. Great Trip! more

Best fishing Day:-)

Mr. Anonymous

This was a great fishing trip, a lot of fun with very few people on the boat, which is always nice. I liked going at night becaus...e it was cooler. Everyone on the boat caught fish which is also always nice. The only thing I would change is that you know ahead that they don't sell beer on the boat so you can bring your own. The crew was the best and super nice. The first mate was totally on top of things the whole trip and we even got to have the fish we just caught a little earlier because he grilled them right there on the boat. I would definitely go on this trip again with these guys! Awesome trip! more

Kaila Toone

Excellent, affordable bottom fishing trip. The crew was very had working and pleasant - Joe the first mate was non stop helping p...eople, with a great attitude the entire time. Many fish were caught and it was awesome that Joe cleaned and grilled them right there so that we could all enjoy eating them on the way in! Best bottom fishing trip I was ever on (been on about ten before, in various places). Highly recommended!! more

Highly satisfied

This was my very first fishing experience and I shared it with my 12 year old son. We don't know anything about fishing, fish...ing poles, reels, bobbers, bait..nadda! This activity claims it's easy for beginners and it was. Only problem I had was the check in process, the guy in the kiosk seemed very irritated and closed the window right before a customer came up to his kiosk to ask a question. The guy in the kiosk didn't want to talk to anyone either and we had to pass our vouchers through the little opening in the window that he did leave open. Once checked in he told us to head to the Sashimi boat. On the boat the deckhand named Evan was grilling our burgers and hotdogs YUM! But the portion was very small, more like a snack. We were given half a burger, half a hot dog, small scoop of rice with chilli, and 1 pineapple.. but REMEMBER!!!.. the small food portion, irritated kiosk person isn't the reason we did the tour.. we wanted to do some fishing! When we got to our first fishing sp more

It was really great! People was really kind! Fishing was really good!

Lackluster. One of the captains was kind and helpful. The "driver" was a egomaniac with anger issues. He called a small ...group of customers "Too f*cking stupid. They are just too stupid!" ...to their faces about 4 times. If you want to catch large fish spend the dough for a better trip if you can afford it. more

kaileen

Great time! Capt Rich and Calen (?) were exceptional. Would definitely recommend and would do again! Thank You!!

paprjp

We had a great time. The crew was awesome. They even grilled our catch on the boat as we fished. Lot of fun. Thanks fellas

Dennis

We had a great time!! Everyone was very nice and helpful. We would definitely do it again.

I bought this tour for my husband and our daughter, who loves fishing. It was a great opportunity for them to spend time together... doing an activity they used to do when she was younger. They had a great time, and, of course, she had proof that she caught a bigger fish than her dad! And I had an evening to myself to do a little shopping and relax! more

Barbara Betty

I want to start off with a big thank you to Warren!! Very patience and helpful!! I have 2 young kids with me and he made sure I ha...d assistance whenever I needed it. Got the Sunset fishing, they picked us up promptly from the hotel and about 20 minutes drive to the boat. Once on the boat it will take about an hour to get to the fishing spot. During that time they give you some instructions and serve you a rice plate that contains beans, hotdogs and pineapples. You get about 3 hrs of total fishing time at 3 different spots. A total of 5 hour trip. I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys fishing or just out in the ocean. My kids are 8 and 10 and had a lot of fun. If you have motion sickness make sure to take something beforehand, it can get a little choppy. I heard ginger works pretty well. Happy fishing! more

Jenny

Great relaxing evening . Picked up on time and out on the water with 11 other people .as with most fishing charters everyone becam...e friendly and the crew especially deck hand Keith were great my type of people . Views of the harbour were stunning. And as a bonus we caught 13 fish between my wife and myself . This is not a luxury charter it's a working mans charter and good value for money where you don't want a full deep sea trip . I would do it again . Cheers to captain Rick and crew more

Owen

It was a good trip not too long. Plenty of time for fishing. The kids really enjoyed it. They lived the fact that the fish they ca...ught was cooked up right on the boat on the way back. more

Tim Leach

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Santa Barbara, CA and went on this fishing trip. It was really fun and we caught a ton of fi...sh! The staff was really helpful and laid back. We would definitely go again! They even cooked the fish we caught on the ride back. Great experience. more

Stefani Bucifal

Had a great time!! It was better than expected. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Had fun,for the price i paid. Was pick up late cause of paper mix up.But the Capined kept us out later to make up time which was c...ool. Im think everyone in are group caught at least one fish or more..will do again. more

The fishing trip was fun... great for anyone. They took their time to go around and make sure you were okay... they provided food ...and grilled the fish at the end of the trip! Great instructors! Had a blast! more

F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S......awesome time.....inexpensive....lunch over.....fishing......your catch is cooked up for you to eat on your cr...uise back. Captain and mate were spot on. Thank you for a wonderful end to our 5th Wedding Anniversary trip. Highly recommended! more

Joseph & Susan Daley

fun & relaxing afternoon would recommend them to my friends

Bob

Captain Tiger knows what he's doing, and if you follow his lead you will catch plenty of fish. We had a good haul, catching ...at least 20-25 fish over the course of the trip. Cooked up the snapper we caught. Would definitely do it again. more

Bjorn

This was exactly what we were hoping for. The captains were fantastic. At one point they moved the boat to a better location - alw...ays trying to provide a better experience. Cooking up the fish on the boat was a classy touch. This is a tour for inexperienced fisherman, however. If you want more of a challenge book their deep sea charter. more

Scott

The captain and deckhand were very friendly and knowledgable. Very easy going feeling. It was beautiful to see the sunset and th...e lights come on throughout the city. If you're looking to catch monster sized fish, this isn't for you, but we caught a lot of pretty and tasty fish that were grilled up on the ship and also got to take some home. A lot of fun all around and deliciously rewarding! more

David

Great Tour, not expensive. Met nice people. Very interesting- u see turtles and have great blue water to fish. don't miss

MJJ

Again I had a fun time, this time was not as much people as my first time, but still a blast. Had one girl, which I will remain na...meless(you know who you are) that is a fish whisperer. Every time she put her bait in the water, boom catches one fish at a time. Well, we moved to another spot and apparently one fish at a time was not enough(there are two hooks on the line), now she is catching two fishes at time. That's what makes the trip more enjoyable when the fish is biting. I caught a few myself, but in reality the fish that everyone caught on the boat, she caught more just by herself. Anyway, night fishing is great, don't have to worry about the sun beating down on ya, out of the norm of normal(day) fishing. To top it all off, going on Friday night is bonus watching the fireworks. I will do again, and again, because the price is right, you are not fishing for hours and they know where to go. more

-PAUL-

father/son in-law day break from the wives had an awesome time 3rd time I've gone with Captain Tiger

Viv

It was my wife's first time and she loved it. We recommend the sunset package.

Alfred

Booking was easy. Tour was great! Wonderful experience to fish in the ocean....catch or no catch! This is something we would defi...nitely do again!!! more

Shannon

What a day to have been on the water with my son. What a way to end out tour in Hawaii. The captain and first hand were amazing a...nd very helpful. Had a great day and caught a lot of fish. Thank you. more

Mike Evans

The Sashimi fishing trip was well done. We were picked up at our hotel on time. Chuck and Henry helped newcomers set up their po...les and with the fish when they were caught. The barbecue was well done. Would recommend it to anyone looking for something different to do in Hawaii. more

George

We had a lot of fun. Cooking and sharing the catch was a treat. Don't expect gormet food, but it was OK. Also don't e...xpect to catch a lot of fish or anything BIG. Fishing around the island does not compare with deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Take it for what it is, a fun time and a great view of Waikiki, at a reasonable price! We will do it again next time. more

Super Dave

This was my second time on the sashimi II. The trips were very different. This trip there were only 8 people very nice, but no f...ish. The pickup was a mess. The driver thinks that it is better to park and go look for the guests instead of pulling up in front. Too many one way streets for him. Whatever. Don't think I will go again, but for the price even if you don't catch fish, you get a boat ride with dinner, and a sunset. more

Mr. Anonymous

My husband and I went fishing one night in Oahu. It was not quite what we expected. The whole boat caught maybe 5 fish around 6 i...nches long. The bbq dinner was some chili out of a can on some rice with a hot dog minus the bun. There were no drinks, the captain and the crew member had soda, but none for the rest of us. We did see a beautiful sunset, and it did get us onto the water. I don't think we would do it again. more

Brandy

The boat ride out to our fishing spot was worth the price in itself, I had never been on a boat before or on muchless the open oce...an. The seas were relatively calm but our party of 3 all took a motion sickness preventative and none of us experienced any problems during the trip. Make sure to bring a light jacket as it will feel cool with the wind and especially after the sun goes down. The crew made us feel comfortable and safe at all times, provided dinner on the way out to sea and we were also able to eat our catch if you wanted to. We each caught one fish and had a good relaxing time on the way home with the view of Oahu & the stars from sea. more

Mike

Had a beautiful day out on the water, but the propellor got wrapped in someones rope that another boat had tossed overboard. That... made it impossible to get to the intended fishing spot, so the fishing wasn't as good as it should have been. 1st Mate Richard and Capt. Dave made the trip as enjoyable as possible. After a good lunch Richard had to jump overboard and clear the rope from the propellor to bring us in. Richard was very attentive and helped my grandaughter catch the largest fish that day, an almost 3ft saltwater gar. She loved it! Our 2 sons both caught triger fish. My husband and myself were fishless. We had hotel pickup and with the beautiful sites and lunch it was well worth the price even without the fish. The captain and first mate made the best out of something they had no control over. more

Mr. Anonymous

W,e are repeat customers, well worth the price, staff is great, would recommend to anyone.

Annetta Mooney

Fun trip. Good crew. Was a little crowded. Good light dinner served. Do not pay $63 can book for $55. Can ask to keep fish. only 1.../2 of our group caught fish.only first and last stops were biting.captain would move if no bites so that was nice.overall very good value. more

Hatcreek

It was the first time for me to go fishing and I think it was a nice experience for me though I felt dizzy on the boat.

Katie

This was a very good experience for the beginner. We all caught something and had a wonderful view of Wakiki shoreline and Diamon...d Head. The crew were very good and helpful when your line got broken/stuck. Well worth the money. more

Linda

Good afternoon but they should have some other kind of baits rather than just the one kind,we fisher people all know that you need... more than one kind of bait. more

Alan

Excellent day of fishing. Very enjoyable Will come back again.

Tim Leach

Captain Tiger was great. Unfortunately, the other travelers were not. Plenty of people complaining about the heat, or weren'...;t satisfied that they hadn't caught anything after 2 mins on the water. Other people intentionally cut off the sinkers so they could fish on the surface, and some almost tangled up in the motor while we were driving because they were impatient. Still caught several fish myself though. more

Bjorn

Very much enjoyed our trip! It was rainy all day but it stopped right before we went out on the water so it turned out to be a gre...at time. The whole crew was wonderful and helped out anyone who needed anything at all! :) more

Kelly

nice trip out and even caught a few fish including jacks and small barracuda. sunset views were spectacular and even though not m...any fish were caught still was enough for everyone to have one cooked on the onboard bbq on trip back to marina. Nice way to spend the evening. thank you more

the balsors

They don't teach out how to fish, they only supply hardware & bait. Did the night fishing, so its not like we had sunligh...t the whole time. I enjoyed myself, cause i know how to fish, but limited to where to go on the boat to fish. They made food, not really, just cut up hot dogs & rice in a crock pot, set on simmer. I love to fish, but i don't like to eat it. However, i rather eat the fish i caught than to eat that mess hall type of food. In other words, not consider food to eat on a boat in the ocean. Almost as if to see who has a weak stomache on the waters. Would i go back is the bottom line. Yes i would, i enjoy fishing. However bring your own food or wait till they cook the fishes caught, otherwise do not eat the food they supply. Bring beer! more

-PAUL-

Although we were very beginner for a bottom fishing, other participants helped us and we caught some fishes. Great experience

This was my partners 2nd trip out however my first. I really enjoyed just being on the ocean and getting to see Waikiki from an...other angle. Our crew were amazing and supportive and we would do this again. I must admit the dinner & drinks weren't as I thought- worth bringing your own snacks or have a good meal beforehand. The fishing was challenging, not many attendees hooked up but a few different species were landed. Highlight for us, We were pleased to catch a glimpse of a large tortoise just casually swimming through the ocean. Overall a friendly and safe environment and would do again. Hopefully better results fishing wise next time. more

Tasha

This trip was pretty much as expected. Nothing spectacular and small fish but still nice to be out on the water with a rod in my h...ands. Water was blue and beautiful. Scenic view of Waikiki was awesome too. My 6 year old and I caught 3 fish. There were about 35 people on the boat all fishing at the same time. Not much room to walk around. Food was horrific. Hot dog over rice... Some people caught 2-5 fish others didn't catch any. Total of maybe 40 fish all together though. Interesting experience. Probably wouldn't do it again although it was a decent price compared to others. Worth it once but not twice. Captain and crew were pretty good. Not super social or friendly but enough to have a nice conversation. They did cook up 4 or 5 of the fish we caught though and let most of us have a taste. The fish was yummy. No extra cost for that either. more

Brent

Originally from Florida, fishing trips are familiar to me. This trip was a complete disappointment! Thank goodness the scenery was... beautiful. The fishing lines didn't use steel leaders, the hooks were the size of hooks used for small freshwater fish such as bluegill. certainly not for the likes of a saltwater fish. Also I felt like a child when the crewman handed me one "dixie" cup with bait to share with the two friends that came with me. The fishing excursions I've taken in Florida included unlimited bait, each person receiving a bucket of their own and unlimited trips back to fill the bait bucket as needed, LARGE hooks and STEEL leaders on large shark type poles. There is never any guarentee of catching anything, but at least if you hook one you havwe the ability to reel it in. The one fish I did hook was to big for the supplied equipment. That's no fun and certainly not sporting. Very disappointing :( more

Here are some things you need to know before you go on this adventure. 1. Bring your own food When you first get on the boat,... you will be given a plate with 2 hamburger patties (at least it looked like hamburger), a hot dog, rice (very bad rice), and it is all smothered in beans. You do not get any buns for the hamburgers or hot dogs or a choice on any part of the food. My son hates beans but since we were not asked anything, the whole plate was covered with beans over the meat and rice. The food was nasty but if your hungry you have to eat it. 2. Bring your own drinks Bring your own soda or beer since the only thing available on the boat is water or juice. 3. Bring hand sanitizer you will be baiting your own hooks with raw, sticky tuna chunks and the smell with stay on your hands for the whole day even after trying to scrub it off when you get back to your hotel. Bring gloves or hand santizer, you will thank me. more

Mr. Anonymous

This was the wrong activity for me to book for my family. In reading the fishing trip description it appeared that it would be fa...irly calm since we were fishing close to shore. At no fault of the Captains or activity provider, the water was very choppy and very high rolling waves, and all 3 of my family members spent pretty much the entire time leaning over the side of the boat "chumming the water". 3 days later and we are still feeling a little weak in the stomach. I would not recommend this for a family activity. Maybe for a hard core individual wanting to do some ocean fishing. Make sure you don't get sea sick before you book this or it will affect your other activities after you attend the fishing trip. Again, I want to say that the Captain and crew were excellent, but we just underestimated the high waves and how long we would feel sick to our stomach afterwards. more

Mr. Anonymous

It was called Sashimi fishing, but no Sashimi. The wind was too strong when we went, so we got very seasicked. The staff was frien...dly, but one of the guy was flirting with my friend and even patted my friend's leg, and we don't like it. more

mika

Six of us went fishing and we caught a total of three fish. That seemed to be the general rate of success on the boat when we wen...t. Pros: Great to be picked up at our hotel. The gear was in generally fine shape, Doug worked very hard the entire time between prepping the fishing gear and cooking up the fish that were caught for the ride home. Cons: There were too many people for the size of the boat. There were lots of crossed lines that took a lot of time to fix (Dough could only do so much). You can't catch fish if your line's not in the water. Simply put, there were too many people for the size of the boat and the crew. I could see this being a much better experience with fewer people. more

Veltra was great; thanks for working with me. However, since I wasn't given the company's phone number (955-FISH) on my ...voucher, I wasn't sure where exactly to check in. Also my voucher said check in at 11:45 and there was no one at the kiosk I suspected was the right one when I arrived a few minutes before the stated check in time. I called the local number on the voucher and connected with someone who was something of a grouch. I told him I wasn't sure I was in the right place and the response was "The signs are gigantic, 955-FISH, there is no way you could miss it" and his tone of voice implied I must be stupid or something for not finding it. I mentioned there was no one there and was told, "Well that's because you're twenty minutes early." "My voucher says 11:45." "You're twenty minutes early." Someone finally arrived at the kiosk at about 12:15. At least the on-board crew was not as rude. They were patient and helpful with my children and displayed an excellent sense of humor, and for those reasons I was able to overlook the fact they did not have enough food for everyone. more

Emi

The equipment and boat were all setup and nice , small snack meal was included and they cooked the fish we caught on grill for us,... as for the fishing itself it was really poor and slow , only few caught throughout whole boat , ( it’s called fishing not catching ) so all in all it was a good little experience . more

I have been on similar fishing trips in the past. As far as fishing goes, this was the biggest disappointment of all of them. ...The fishing gear was not adequate for the fish in the area. Throughout the trip rigs were being lost to fish with sharp teeth. I personally lost one rig and my partner lost two, and it was definitely a fish, not coral. The captain and mate spent a large amount of time replacing rigs. Over the course of four hours the entire boat caught about eight triggerfish, which all had to be thrown back. Not a single keeper was caught. A majority of the boat, including myself and my partner, never hooked a thing except for whatever stole our rigs. I believe a lot more fish could be caught if appropriate tackle was used. The sunset and the view of Honolulu were the bright spots in the evening. The boat also got a great view of Diamondhead. I will never being doing the fishing trips again, but a sunset dinner cruise might be worth it. more

The first sign of trouble was when they changed our fish time because they couldn't get anymore people for the evening we wan...ted. The fishing was like fishing in a small pond, hooks small and the rig was for bottom fishing. Thus fish caught were small though the crew did save one catch for bait for a shark hunt they were doing later that night. One of the people who contacted me stated he would refund some of the fee because of the time change and he never did. The only good part was the boat ride and the view from the ocean. Bottom line go for the marlin if you really want to fish or check out some of the offers on the North Shore, they sound better than this one. They made me choose who I would recommend this to, wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants to fish. more
