We signed up for the two hour guided tour. This was perfect for our family. Our guide (Nick) was very friendly and gave us some great pointers on additional things to do on our vacation on Oahu. After our kayak tour, we were able to use their bicycles and ride to the beach to spend some time snorkeling before it was time to head back to our hotel.

We were picked up at our hotel, brought through a scenic drive to Kailua and Lanikai Beach. We had about 2 hours to kill at one of... the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. They gave us lunch tickets, and we had the pizza. Our lunch was delicious!! The guides were great, and helped with our novice level of kayaking. The experience was great. Thanks to our guides Kendra and Chad. more

Hawaii Activities made my first ocean kayaking experience a great one. I'll do it again the first chance I get!
This was an awesome adventure, combining snorkeling with kayaking. We kayaked to two different location, on being Chinamen Hat an...d another corel reef beach. Our guide, Nick, was great as well as a certified cpr and kayaking rescuer. The senery was beautiful and we had plenty of time for snorkeling and walking around at our locations. Lunch was nurishing and refreshing. Highly recommended for physically fit persons. more
We found this to one of the best activities at the best beach. We went back and body surfed on another day. Suggest to be physical...ly fit and if not the Tour Guide was towing one couple. more

Firstly,at best my partner is a moderate swimmer, so she really isn't confident in the water. We booked a 4 hour kayaking... activity with some apprehension. I can honestly say it was the best day of our holiday. Not only because Lanakai beach was fantastic but mainly because of the young staff, like Andy and Nick our guides. The staff don't wrap you up in cotton wool. They are young, laid back but professional if needed and full of local knowledge. Super, super day. Many thanks. Mandy and Mark (UK) more

This was one of the most beautiful activities I did while in Hawaii. It was great exercise and I would reccommend doing this with ...a partner. I did this by myself and I found it quite difficult, but then again I'm not in good shape at all. May be easier for someone who is in shape. The beaches are so beautiful that I ended up comming back on my own a few days later. Take an underwater camera because the view is great. more
One of my favorite activities of the trip! We opted for the all day rental which is a steal at $59!! I was a first timer but my pa...rtner is, at least, intermediate. I had so much fun! On the all day rental you can keep the kayack for 8 hours but we only went out for about 5 hours...its def. a workout! We were able to paddle out to different uninhabited islands and explore and snorkle. I like the idea of the self guided all day rental bc we werent on a time line and we were ale to go at our own pace. However, if youre a beginner i would def. recommend the kayacking tour. A few of them stopped by the island when we were there and everyone seemed to be having a great time, as did we!! It was great to spend the day in the sun while doing something different... i can only lay on the beach for so many days before i get bored :) If your considering the kayacking tour or just rental...do it, you wont be disappointed! more
This was a blast! It was strenuous but as a middle aged beginner not too. We teamed up in a double kayak and there were two other... parent, young adult teams in our group who also expressed great enjoyment. more
I booked this kayaking trip with some anxiety since I was taking along my nephew who's previous experience in swimming was st...rictly in swimming pools and boogie boarding in the Texas gulf coast. I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable and safe this adventure turned out to be. Our instructor, Bailey Coogersberger (I'm not sure of the spelling), a Korean American chef out of Georgia was most helpful, and very patient with his instructions and very knowledgeable of the terrain, flora/fauna not to mention the folklore of the area which made for an educational trip to boot. He even shared some places where we could get some good local eating, being a former chef myself. Incidentally, I did check those he recommended and very happy that i did. More power to your company and will definitely recommend this trip if you have that extra day to spare. more
Our family of 6 had a great time on the 2 hour kayak tour to Flat Island! Our guide Cyrus was very knowledgeable about the island... and the near-by beaches. He also shared a few Hawaiian stories explaining the history of Flat Island and some of the flowers growing there. All in all, I'd recommend the activity to anyone interested in kayaking the crystal clear waters of the eastern Oahu shore. And if you're a more experienced kayaker, or in better shape than us, try the 4-hr tour! more
First time kayakers, the sea was calm, the day was sunny and we had an awesome time. Erick was a great guide...would do it again i...n a heartbeat. more
This was an oustanding tour. Although it was windy, the hard work was worth it. Visiting the off shore island was exciting, divi...ng into the coral pool (Queen's Bath) was way cool, snorkeling over the coral reefs was great and seeing two Hawaiian Green sea turtles was magical! The only negatives were some of the masks leaked and my friend got a moldy sandwich (which was relaced). I would highly recommend this tour, but it's not for children. more
When you arrive at the establishment, everyone is very helpful. You watch a video of what to look forward to. Only thing I would h...ave wished was for a small map that we could have taken with us, instead there's a big one on the wall. So what I did was take a picture of it with my camera. It's an easy walk to the beach, then you depart. It's great!! We opted for the bag, definitely do it, you can put everything you don't want wet in there. The views are great and you get a great workout for your arms, always a plus. Once you get to the islands, you get amazing views!! Some you can even snorkel in. Would be visiting again soon! more
We were first timers kayaking and while the 2.5 miles we paddled to our destination was physically challenging the destination and... overall experience was well worth it. Our guides, Sheila and Alex were great. Sheila has alot of experience and education and was very informative throughout the tour. We would do this again!!! Magnificent and beautiful. more
We opted for the 4 hour guided tour. Our guide Sheila was fun and extremely knowledgeable. She gave us history, marine biology, ...and geology lessons as we kayaked out to one of the off shore islands and while exploring the island. The folks on the 2 hour tour were there as long as we were, but they spent less time kayaking and did not visit the island we did - I highly recommend opting for the 4 hour tour. You'll get a lot more kayak time and a much more interesting island to visit. more
I have lived in Waikiki for the last 5 years and always wanted to Kayak but never tried. My son took me on this great Kayak outin...g and we really enjoyed ourselves! I'm 46 and was a little concerned about being in good enough shape to handle Kayaking in the ocean, but the Kailua beaches are protected by coral reefs and the waves were never a problem. The area is gorgeous and being able to paddle out to bird sanctuary was a real treat. The folks at Oahu Kayaking are very friendly and knowledgeable. Watching the video before we set out helped to put my fears at ease. This is a perfect activity for singles, couples, families or even a quiet solo outing. All in all, a great way to spend the day! more

We had a great time. However, the 4-hour tour was pretty intense and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the first-time ...kayakers. more
I had friends visiting the islands, and they wanted to do something a bit different, and 'off the beaten path' so I deci...ded to take them Ocean Kayaking over in Kailua! We headed out, a bit late, and got there and the staff at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks were amazing and friendly, telling us all the best insider tips for kayaking out there! We got out into the ocean, and it was extremely windy and choppy, but it was so much fun heading out to Flat Island and then over to the beach for a bit of relaxing snorkeling and sunbathing. Thanks again to the great staff at Kailua Sailboards for all their help with everything kayak and ocean related, my friends and I had a blast braving the elements and spending the day out on the water! more
This was an awesome physical activity! We kayaked to a gorgeous island with our amazing and informative guide "Keala"! ... Saw turtles and dipped ourselves in the Queens bath...fun fun fun more
I like it, it is amazing You should try it You well like it also
I wanted to do kayaking and my wife wanted us to do that in a two-man boat, which was fine with me. But then she chickened out at ...the last second and I had to kayak a two-man boat by myself. It was hard and embarassing and the situation sucked. Despite that, I had a great time. My guide was very understanding of the situation and helped me along the whole way. My group kayaked to a small island a quarter-mile out to sea and he gave us a small tour. Interesting stuff. When we came back, the manager gave us a partial refund on my wife's payment because she was in the boat for less than five minutes. It was a good time. If you go to this place, ask for either Matt or Mark (can't remember). He's an orange-haired dude who wears a Gilligan hat. more
This activity was a great experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made sure everyone had a safe and fun experience. I wou...ld do this activity again! After our trip we were allowed to use either snorkle gear or bicycles until out tour bus picked us up. Staff is very polite and attentive! more
This was an experience of a lifetime. Went on this for one of our honeymoon activities! A lot of fun! We got a complimentary shuttle from our Waikiki Hotel and then wat...ched a video and were sent on our self guided trip! You can visit and small island while kayaking or kayak to another beach and go snorkeling! We even saw a sea turtle! Definitely would recommend and lunch was included! Beautiful beach! more
Staff was very courteous and helpful. Price was reasonable. Had a great first time kayaking.
We weren't expecting the challenge but it was the most amazing and memorable experience! MUST DO.
While my friends and I were in Oahu, we knew we wanted to go kayaking. We were considering maybe just renting kayaks in Waikiki wh...ere we were staying, but we were concerned about just how crowded Waikiki Beach can get. My friend found this kayaking trip at Kailua Beach and we were sold. For about $80 we received kayak rentals, snorkel gear, lunch, and shuttle service. This kayaking adventure was definitely worth it! The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful, and the water was absolutely beautiful. I am so glad we were able to discover Kailua Beach. When I read that this trip included lunch, I expected a paper bag lunch, something like sandwiches and chips. But in reality we were given a coupon that was redeemable at four locations by the kayaking shop. We chose to have pizza at Bob's, which was delicious and filling. We did this on our last day in Oahu, so it was a great ending to our vacation. more
Best part of our vacation. Tony was our guide and he was great! Drive yourself so after the tour you can take advantage of the bi...kes and snorkel gear. Thanks for s great time! more
Awesome day. You don't need experience at all. My wife and I have never been Kayaking and we did fine. Explored outer islands... no problems. Highly recommend this place. Very friendly staff. more

Made my telephone reservation directly with Veltra and the person I spoke to was very helpful and informative, so I was prepared f...or the day. I have river kayaked for many years, but this was my first experience with sea kayaking, so I wasn't sure how things would go when wind, current, waves and a different style of kayak were added to the mix. I had a great experience with this company! Toby was an excellent instructor and guide and we had a small group, so we received lots of individualized instruction. Beautiful scenery! And Toby shared a lot of Hawaiin history with us which was a nice bonus. My only regret is not taking the 5 hour trip so I could have more paddling time!! Pizza Lunch was good. After lunch, rode a bike 10 minutes to Lanikai beach and enjoyed some great snorkeling! Wonderful day in Oahu! more
This was a perfect way to see a different part of Hawaii away from Waikiki. The pick-up from the hotel was on time with a really f...riendly driver. We arrived and easily took our own kayaks to the beach. Highly recommend going to Lanikai beach and snorkeling. We chose the pizza for lunch and it was great! more
Kayaking on the ocean with Kailua Beach Adventures might be one of the best activities we did for our honeymoon. Our guide was ver...y knowledgeable about the area and give us some great information about the culture and islands. My husband and I both have done kayaking before, but has never done it in the ocean. There were some waves and it can be a little challenging for those who have never done kayaking before. One thing to be prepared is some labour work. You need to drag your own kayak to the ocean with a cart they provide. You also need to drag it back. It was not super far, but definitely energy consuming. Most staff members are very friendly. I had a little hard time jumping into the kayak with the waves, the person looked a little annoyed with that and had a bad attitude. She might just be having a bad day. During the kayak, they have professional photographers taking photos of your group and you can purchase them at the end of your tour for $39. There were about 40 in the package. The lunch coupon gives you three or four lunch choices nearby. Mostly box lunches or pizza with a drink. I forgot one of my my shopping bags at their shop and called them the next day, they had it sent to my hotel, which was very nice! We had an overall wonderful experience. We will definitely do it again given the chance! more
My wife and I had never kayaked before and were a little nervous about an ocean kayak. We had contacted the provider before booki...ng and they assured us that they could accommodate even first-timers, which they certainly did. The guides explained everything we needed to know about handling the kayak and were with our group, which they keep small, at all times from launch, through the ocean paddling, and landing. Our guide, Clay, was extremely knowledgeable about kayaking, the bird sanctuary island, which is the destination, and the islands in general. Everything that was listed in the description of the excursion was provided. more
Easy to rent equipment, easy return. Staff friendly and very helpful for first time kayakers. Would highly recommend
We had a nice day out. The kayaking trip was nice, not strenuous at all and fun to go with. It was just us two with our guide who ...took us out to a small rock island known for nesting birds. We didn't see any as we were there at the wrong time of year. It was still nice to have a little wander around. The guide was informative and flexible and took us for a kayak showing us a local beach After spending a couple hours kayaking we returned our kayaks and they provided two bikes and some snorkelling gear which was nice was to spend the remainder of our afternoon. Pick-up was punctual and hassle free. The staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend. If you're after something a bit more challenging though, they do also do a longer guided tour to some cool looking island a bit further away. more
The kayaking was great, the ocean was fantastic. Our guide Po was easy going and put me right at ease. I felt well taken care of d...espite my inexperience on the ocean as well as kayaking. He even got me to do a little kayak surfing into the waves!!! Loved it! more
I really enjoyed the 2 hour guided kayak tour with Tomo. As we were just three in our group we made faster progress than normal so... Tomo took us for a visit to Lanikai beach first before we continued on to Flat Island. I enjoyed the walk on the island as Tomo told us lots of interesting facts about it. Time flew by and too soon we had to return to the beach. I definitely recommend this tour even to newcomers and Tomo was a great guide to have. more

The location was amazing! I would definitely recommend this to first timers to kayaking and hawaii. This was my boyfriend's ...first trip to hawaii and I wanted to show him what hawaii had to offer. This tour was the cherry on top. Kailua Beach is one of the best/beautiful beaches on the island. I felt more secure doing the guided tour since I have never went ocean kayaking before. Drew, our tour guide, was the coolest and he passionately knew everything about the location and wildlife. We actually flipped over in our kayak. It wasn't that scary since we had life jackets and the other kayakers and tour guide helped us back on our kayak. I'm glad we flipped cuz after we got situated back on our kayak which was further away from the group, we wouldn't have seen the sea turtle that was swimming by. The tour started with paddling to an island 2-3 miles away. We explored the island listening to stories and facts from the tour guide for about 30-40minutes. After that we kayaked back more
We had a great time on our kayak trip, however our originally scheduled trip was cancelled due to heavy rains. Unless you love lot...s of RAIN... do not visit Hawaii in December! My husband is not a strong swimmer, so we avoided any waves near the islands. The water was not as clear as I expected, but it was very fun, none the less! more
A very nice activity for those who tire of the crowds in Waikiki. A wish list item would be a shuttle to Lanakai. That is one of t...he best beaches in Hawaii, but is a good 25 minute walk from the shop. But, also have Kailua Beach (sp?) very nearby, which is almost just as good. The staff was great and shared numerous insights about both the activity and the history of the area. We did the short tour, which took us to the bird sanctuary island. A pretty location with great picture opportunities. We will book this again next visit and maybe do the longer tour. A nice workout, but nothing too strenuous and perfect for novice kayakers like us. Decent food and snack options nearby and overall a fun way to spend an afternoon. Check it out!! more
The last time I went kayaking was at Catalina Island, we didn't even get wet. I was not prepared for this adventure at all. ... It was a lot of work I could not have done it without my husband. There was a single girl in our group it was her first time and she had a really tough time. It was soooo windy, they don't call it the windward side of the island for fun apparently. The guides were great. Helpful, friendly, and encouraging. But the wind was horrible. Maybe we were really just there on an unusual day but you may want to check and see about other kayaking adventures I hear the secret island one is awesome. The lunch was quite yummy, it was sandwich wraps, soda, chips, water, and granola bars too. The beach we stopped at was pretty and the snorkeling was fun but it was hard to see much. When we made it to the island and got out of our kayaks a huge gust of wind came and the sand hit our legs like a sandblaster! Not cool. When we walked around to the backside of the island more
I took my wife on a self guided, 4hr, tour. The location was fairly easy to find with the help of GPS. About 45 min, with traffic,... from Ewa Beach. Anyway, the staff was very helpful and welcoming upon arrival. After signing required paperwork ( hazard waiver and such) we were shown an 8 min video of the area where you may take your kayak. For first timers, doing a self guided tour, I suggest paying attention to the video as there are several key area's that will assist in your adventure, especially on how to approach one of the islands you may visit, as there are merging swells in the center of the landing area of the islands. The walk to the staging area is not far and so if you drove, I suggest leaving your vehicle at the venue parking lot as there is minimal parking where you pick up your kayak. I also suggest to either commit to going all the way to the bigger islands or going to the closer "Flat Island" and then proceding to snorkle at the next beach area, as the islands are quite more
It was a memorable sea-kayaking trip. Just be aware of one small detail: the bathroom/restroom facility is suitable only for temp...orary bath & cloth change. Very much likely you have to come back for a real full bath at your hotel. Aside from this, every else (which counts towards 99% of the trip) is great !! more
Really well organised trip - from bus pick-up to drop off. All staff were exceptionally professional placing a great emphasis on s...afety. Our guide knew the area extremely well and provided intriguing insights in to the local environment. I went by myself and had a great time with the group I was allocated. I would definitely book with this company again. more
We had a great tour guide. We selected the beginners package. We had been kayaking before so in retrospect it was not the best opt...ion. The kayaking portion lasted about 30 minutes. We spent most of the time exploring the small island we landed on...not what I was expecting. more
This was fun, it was a windy day which made the kayak out to the island a little harder, but Hayley our guide was a great guide. T...he groups are kept small which makes it better. The staff are all very friendly, it's well organised, and there was a nice choice of 4 different free lunches that came with the activity. more
Whilst the weather is always a variable on these sort of trips it would seem that what we experienced was an average day. It was... windy with a fair chop in some areas. Landing on the island for lunch was challenging and a number of boats capsized going through the confused surf (caused by waves come around both sides of the island). The staff were excellent, and there were no safety issues, but people with no or limited kayaking experience may find the trip daunting. The kayaks are very stable and the distance paddled was enough to give you some muscular reminders the following day if you haven't paddled for a while, but it is not excessive. There were no opportunities for snorkelling. The trip is well worth doing but don't expect it to look like the photos on the brochure. more
Did this tour one morning, the guide who gave us the tour of the place was great, made us feel welcomed. The walk to the beach was... definitely interesting but if your not prepaired to lug around a heavy canoe be aware you also have to cross a busy intersection. If you drive to the shop you can ride all day which was a good perk. Once in the ocean it was dangerous but fun because waves were big but we still had fun. more
Everyone here was very helpful and eager to make sure you have everything you need. They also have some of the full face snorkel m...asks. Ask for one. Otherwise you'll get the same old and its hardest for a novice to remember to breath through the mouth alone. more
I'll keep it short and sweet. Our guide Keala was great. Knowledgeable and easygoing. It was very windy day so we were unable... to actually kayak as much as we might have usually which was a bit of a disappointment. I felt the tour should have put off/postponed the outgoing or at least attempted to somehow offer compensation for the shortened outing. But my only real beef was with the knuckleheads who 'helped' me on my landing upon return. They had me get out of the kayak too early in deep water. A large wave turned my kayak over, it washed back at me and I had to jump over it as it washed back, and only my agility saved my knees/legs! They probably didn't even see this happen. That being said, on a normal not so windly day, this would be a great tour. more
Water was choppy so it made it difficult to ride. Some tips and spills. Will definitely need some upper body strength.
