What To Expect
You will be picked up from your hotel in Oporto, Guimaraes or Braga for a full-day tour to Braga and Barcelos, in small groups of 6 people maximum.
Your tour will start with the visit of Braga, a lively city known as the Portuguese Rome due to its concentration of religious architecture, located about 50km in the North of Oporto.
Enjoy a panoramic city tour of Braga followed by a walking tour in the historic center of the city.
Discover various places such as the Braga Santa Barbara Garden, a pretty garden where medieval arches and historic background are mixed, which is a good place to relax at.
Then, you will observe the ancient Castle Keep, a tower whose role was to protect the castle of Braga which is declared as National Monument.
After that, you will see the Braga Porta nova arch, a baroque and neoclassical arch built in the 18th century and pass in front of the Braga Lapa Arcade, a religious monument of the 19th century. Admire its neoclassical architecture.
Go to Liberty Avenue, one of the main streets of Braga full of shops and flowers that bring color and happiness to the landscape.
Continue visiting the exterior of Sé de Braga, the most important cathedral and monument of Braga, which dates back to the 12th century and stop at Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, a Portuguese sanctuary famous for its 116-metter stairway.
End your tour of Braga with Nossa senhora do Sameiro Santuary, a neo-classical monument built in the 19th century, which is a part of the most important shrines to Mary.
Then, head to Barcelos, a city in the North of Portugal located about 20km from Braga, known for its handmade ceramics and baroque houses.
Enjoy a delicious lunch at one of Barcelos' restaurants before a panoramic city tour followed by a walking tour in the historical center of Barcelos.
Discover Barcelos Medieval Bridge which is classified as a National Monument as well as its city walls, which date back to 1373.
Then, you will visit the Castle Keep Pottery museum, where you will discover potteries from all over Portugal.
You will pass in front of the Municipal Chamber Building, the executive body of Portuguese municipalities.
The visit continues with the Parish church, famous for being the place where the symbol of Portugal, the rooster, is born. This church is located behind the Archaeological Museum of Barcelos.
After that, you will have the opportunity to visit the Bom Jesus da Cruz Temple, which is a part of the Seven Wonders of Barcelos and the Ruins of Castelo de Faria, a castle that was one of the most important during the Middle Age.
Finally, stop by Largo do Apoio square in Braga historical center and at local craftsman shops. You will also have time to admire Nossa Senhora da Franqueira, a sanctuary that dates back to the 17th century.
After tour, you will be droped off at your hotel or meeting point in Braga, Guimaraes or Oporto.

The only entrance that is not included in the tour is in the Sé Cathedral of Braga. You will have access to enter all the rest of the monuments (unless they are closed).
Pick up in Oporto and Guimaraes will be between 8:00 and 8:30 and pick up in Braga will be between 9 and 9.30.
