Description

Start the day off with a train ride from Osaka to Kyoto, Japan's capital from 794 to 1868. Experience Kyoto's 1200 year history. Visit Nijo Castle, the residence of the Tokugawa era shoguns, and marvel at the gold-leaf covered Golden Pavilion, which houses sacred relics of Buddha and is surrounded by an exquisitely beautiful garden. Take in the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and watch craftsmen plying their trade at the Kyoto Handicraft Center, where you can purchase locally-made items.

Itinerary (Mondays - Fridays)

  • 07:15 Assemble at Hotel Granvia Osaka. Board a JR rapid service train to Kyoto. After arriving in Kyoto, proceed to New Miyako Hotel.

  • 08:35 Assemble at New Miyako Hotel

Visit the following by motorcoach:

  • Nijo Castle (50 minutes)

  • Kinkakuji Temple (45 minutes)

  • Kyoto Imperial Palace (40 minutes)

  • 13:45 - 14:15 Board a JR rapid service train back to Osaka. Tour disbands at Osaka Station.

Itinerary (Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays)

  • 07:15 Assemble at Hotel Granvia Osaka. Board a JR rapid service train to Kyoto. After arriving in Kyoto, proceed to Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto.

  • 08:45 Assemble at Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto

Visit the following by motorcoach:

  • Nijo Castle (50 minutes)

  • Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) (45 minutes)

  • Nishi Honganji Temple (40 minutes)

  • 12:15 - 12:45 Board a JR rapid service train back to Osaka

Please note

  • Pick ups are available from selected hotels in Osaka.

  • Children 5 years old and below are free of charge, provided they sit on an adult's lap. If they need a seat, they will be charged (child rates).

  • Journey between Osaka and Kyoto will be accompanied by an English-speaking tour assistant.

  • Please note that you are required to follow necessary procedures before entering the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Please give your full name, nationality, gender and age upon entry.

  • On days when the Nijo castle is closed we will visit Ryoanji Temple or Daitokuji Daisen-in Temple instead.

  • The Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed every Monday (Tuesday if Monday is a National Holiday), on 28 December 2016 to 4 January 2017 and whenever there is an Imperial Household event. On these days, tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead.

Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation: 9 days or more prior to start date of activity.
  • 30% Cancellation Fee (70% reimbursement): between 3 to 8 days prior to date of activity.
  • 100% Cancellation Fee (no reimbursement): 2 days or less prior to date of activity.
