What To Expect
Enjoy a fantastic 45-minute hike through the famous South Coyote Buttes and follow your expert guide who will show you places you would never have seen without him!
The southern section of Coyote Buttes south is divided into two areas: Paw Hole and Cottonwood, both featuring large teepees, but very different from each other. These Teepees are composed of the strongly colored Navajo sandstone that comprises the "Wave". Paw hole offers more of the deep red iron oxide sandstone than any area inside the monument, while Cottonwood is has a more prominent orange and yellow look to it.
Both places are perfect for macro details as well as large subjects, and we suggest choosing one area for your tour as they both are exceptional destinations and should not be rushed. Photographers have consistently rated this section higher than its cousin up north because subects to shoot are considerably more varied. You'll definitely be able to take great images while you're here.
