What To Expect
A lush paradise full of green havens awaits! Explore the terrain of Sanguinho, an ecosystem of unique and mysterious flora and fauna.
We begin the trail at the Parish of Faial da Terra, and trek uphill to Sanguinho. The trail continues to the Salto do Prego waterfall, one of the most picturesque sites in the island. Enjoy the view along with a picnic lunch, and take the chance to bathe in the crystal clear waters of the falls!
We return along the path parallel to the stream that flows from the falls back to the Faial da Terra parish, abundant with lush vegetation. Relax and take in the serenity of the flora and fauna, and lastly stop to the Povoacao village, the first settlement in Sao Miguel Island. The charming Povoacao village is home to only 6,327 inhabitants, who have preserved the culture of their ancestors who first settled here. The island has a rich history of colonization, its conquerers attracted to the land because of its clear, sweet and cold waters and diverse greenery. Just like them, you will fall in love with the land too.
