What To Expect
Experience the calming ambience of Furnas Lake and its surrounding volcanic fumaroles and boiling waters as you paddle to observe its calderas. Here you can feast your eyes on the tranquil forest and waters, untouched by human activity. Furnas has some of the purest waters and rarest flora and fauna in the world, making this a truly unforgettable experience. We return by paddling through the central part of the lake, to enjoy the fantastic scenery of the site.
After lunch at a local restaurant, a must-do on this trip is to try the naturally boiled Cozido, which is cooked in the volcanic fumaroles! You will witness the pots being taken out of the holes in the ground, and taste the freshness of the dish made in the pure, sweet waters.
Who would have thought that you would find such an exquisite example of 18th century romantic architecture in the Azores Islands? That is exactly what you will find at the Terra Nostra Gardens, which is not only full of architectural wonders, but natural wonders as well, with a kaleidoscopic collection of both endemic flowers and flowers from different regions of the world. After a challenging canoeing excursion, this is the perfect way to end the day in sheer bliss.
