What To Expect
Board the MV Calypso Star and spend a day in the waters around Neptune Islands to see and learn more about the magnificent Great White Sharks.
At 06:30, guests board the vessel at the Marina Hotel to the smell of freshly made coffee. After an introduction and safety briefing from the Skipper of the day we throw the ropes off and depart for the Neptune Islands. Breakfast is served shortly after departure from the Marina.
Enjoy the 2 and a half hour to 3 hour journey to the Neptune Islands often accompanied by pods of dolphins & even the odd whale in season. Along the scenic journey the friendly crew will provide you with information about the fishing industries, the surrounding Islands and the marine life. Depending on the weather and time of departure, we'll arrive at our dive location at around 09:30 to 10:00.
Upon reaching the islands, the Skipper will pass close to the islands to allow passengers to view and photograph the Sea Lion colony up-close. The dive location for the day is then selected and it is time to drop the anchor. As the bait hits the water, the action begins! We have often had Great Whites around the boat before dropping the anchor.
Groups enter our new spacious cage, 6 participants at a time leaving plenty of room for prime shark viewing! Once the sharks arrive each group will have the opportunity to experience approximately 45 minutes of cage viewing, going face to face with the amazing Great White Shark. Please note this time can vary and will depend on the shark activity and the day's weather.
While you are not in the water, you can see the action from the spacious upper and lower decks. Keep your camera in-hand for those prime photographic opportunities. You can also watch the underwater action live streamed into the saloon from the cameras mounted on our shark cage!
Morning tea, magnificent lunch, afternoon tea, cappuccino and cold soft-drinks are included. As a licensed vessel the bar opens on the way home. Beer, red and white wine are available.
