Press Release Winter Olympics 2010 highlight Vancouver attractions

Vancouver, Canada (January 22, 2010)—The Winter Olympics returns to Canada on February 12. Until February 28, popular winter sports such as speed skating, snowboarding, and ice hockey will be spotlighted in Vancouver, host city in the British Columbia province. According to, the event also serves to spotlight the sightseeing attractions and outdoor adventures in and around the city. Currently, there are seven planned travel experiences in Vancouver on the website.

First on the list is Victoria and Butchart Gardens, which includes a ferry cruise through Active Pass in the Gulf Islands to British Columbia's capital. It also features a drive to the Inner Harbor, Government Street shopping and dining, and a visit to the Butchart Gardens, Royal B.C. Museum and other attractions.

Next is the Vancouver Downtown Walking Tour Experience, which focuses on interesting areas from Gastown to Chinatown. Among the sights included in this activity are: Sinclair Centre, Waterfront Station, Marine Building, Holy Rosary Cathedral, Vancouver Public Library, Victory Square, Chinatown Millennium Gate and Dr. Sun Yat Set Chinese Garden.

The Vancouver City Highlights Tour, on the other hand, highlights the following attractions: Canada Place, Robson Street, Stanley Park, English Bay, Granville Island, Chinatown, Gastown, Queen Elizabeth Park and The Lookout. An alternative, the Vancouver City and Aquarium Tour, features most of the sights available in the City Highlights tour, with the Vancouver Aquarium replacing Queen Elizabeth Park and The Lookout.

With Vancouver and Capilano Suspension Bridge tour, travelers are in for a day of sightseeing and adventure. After visiting the city's top attractions, travelers get to cross a 450 feet long bridge above the Capilano River. Another highlight is shopping in Granville Island, which has a public market, shops, eateries and galleries along the water.

As traffic jams are expected during Winter Olympics, the following activities: Vancouver City Highlights and Vancouver and Capilano Suspension Bridge will not be offered between January 28 and February 28, advised. Walking tours of Vancouver are instead offered during this period.

For other activities in Vancouver and surrounding areas, there is the tour in Grouse Mountain as well as in Whistler and Shannon Falls. More activities in Canada are available on, alongside things to do in top cities across the world.
