Description

The tour begins with a stroll through the Trastevere district of Rome, crossing Piazza in Piscinula and Via Arco dei Tolomei. Trastevere is known for its restaurants, pubs and dynamic ambiance especially at night. Walking in Vicolo dell'Atleta, see a 13th-century construction considered to be the only surviving ancient Jewish synagogue in the quarter from the Middle Ages.

Head back to Via dei Genovesi reaching Piazza Sonnino, one of the most popular medieval constructions, the Torre degli Anguillara, better known as the "House of Dante."

Continue to the Ponte Fabricio and arrive shortly at Tiberina Island. The island, which is mainly occupied by the Fatebenefratelli Hospital from the 16th century, offers an amazing walk with its typical houses, courtyards and streets reminiscent of its medieval origins.

Then, discover one of the ancient Ghetto's throughout Italy and Europe as you explore the characteristic area of the Jewish Ghetto. Get inside the monumental building of the Synagogue, which was built in 1904. Behind the building runs Via del Portico d'Ottavia and inside part of the monument lies the church of St. Angelo in Pescheria.

The walking tour ends here. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the district or stop at any of the restaurants or pizzerias for a typical Italian meal.
