From Sagada, hop on a comfortable air-conditioned minivan and travel to the city of Baguio. The entry point to the natural and cultural wonders of the Cordillera Region, the city is situated in the midst of mountains and valleys, thus the cool climate.
Upon arrival, you will first check in at Forest Lodge, a high-class hotel in Camp John Hay. Take a 30-minute ride to visit the Strawberry Farm, where you get to pick fresh strawberries right alongside the Ibaloi farmers.
Then, stop at the Baguio Botanical Garden, a huge piece of land filled with towering pine trees, greenhouses and nurseries designed to propagate the flora and fauna of the city. Be welcomed by a bas relief structure made of cement and stone which depicts the rituals of the Cordillera tribes, and take pictures with friendly Igorots who are more than willing to pose for the camera. Climb the stone steps and paths which will lead you to an art gallery, pocket gardens and a small row of souvenir stalls.
For some inspiration, visit the Baguio Museum, a repository of the artifacts of different ethnolinguistic groups of the Cordilleras provinces. Find an array of collections of traditional attires, accessories, hunting instruments, woodcarving, jars and ceramics and weapons that dates back to the 1950's.
When the night falls, visit the city night market, a vibrant place along Harrison Road, where you can find a great selection of brand new and second hand items from shirts, jackets, pants and accessories. Food stalls are also available on both ends of the stretch.
After a comfortable night accommodation at the Forest Lodge, enjoy a lovely buffet breakfast at The Manor Palace. Choose from a wide selection of both Filipino and international cuisines and admire the log cabin theme which sets the mood for a perfect dining experience.
After breakfast, proceed to Baguio City Market, one of the cleanest in the country. Find all the best consumer and service needs including fresh fruits and vegetables, colorful flowers, home decor and more! Souvenirs such as the barrel man and over-sized wooden spoons and rosaries are also available for purchase.
Then, proceed to the heart of the city and visit Burnham Park, the mother of all parks in the City of Pines. Designed by and named after premier American architect and urban planner, Daniel Hudson Burnham, who also designed the original plan for Baguio City. Burnham Park remains, to this day, one of the Philippines' most well known and best-loved parks. Explore the park on a bicycle or go row-boating down the man-made Burnham Lagoon.
