About Salt Lake City Utah Olympic Park

Utah Olympic Park is the sports venue constructed for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. It continues to host national and international competitions.

The 389-acre park is located in the Wasatch Mountains 28 miles east of Salt Lake City. Besides hosting competitions and athlete trainings, the Olympic Park is a popular tourist attraction offering seasonal activities and year-round guided tours. The park is fitted with Nordic Ski Jumps, a sliding track with five start houses, a winter freestyle aerials competition hill and a summer freestyle aerial training pool. Guest amenities are available in the day lodge and the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center.Besides watching athletes train and perform in freestyle aerial shows, visitors can experience what it's like to be Olympians themselves. They can ride down the entire Utah sliding track with the three-passenger Comet Bobsled. Winter guests 14 years and above can take on the Rocket Skeleton ride and maneuver a skeleton sled head-first down the last four curves of the Olympic Track. For a less extreme version, guests of all ages can try the Alpine Slide during the summer. Aspiring athletes can learn more through the Olympic park's youth sports programs. Other attractions include the Xtreme Zipline (billed the world's steepest zipline) and the Summer Chairlift Ride. Sunday Ski Clinics every winter lets visitors try Nordic Ski Jumping, Moguls and Terrain Park. The Olympic Park pays tribute to skiing history through two museums found in the three-story Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center. The Alf Engen Ski Museum focuses on skiing history in the Intermountain Region, equipped with touch-screen displays, videos, ski  theater, games and maps. The museum is also home to the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame and the Professional Ski Instructors of America-Intermountain Region Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, the George Eccles 2002 Olympic Winter Games displays the highlights and artifacts of the 2002 Winter Games.  The multipurpose Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center also houses a retail gift shop, the Ecker Hill Cafe, the Museum Theater and the Quinney Conference Room.
