What To Expect
We will pick you up from the hotel, and we will go to the south, in a route that will take us from 1500 up to 3500 meters above the sea level! Is the perfect opportunity to admire the immensity of the Puna, this incredible space in the central Andes, between the earth and the sky, as you get close to Cuesta del Obispo: the landscape is amazing! Marvel at Valle Encantado, where you will find ancient caves, inhabited once by native communities thousands of years ago, and stunning rock paintings.
The same road takes us to Shell's Gorge, a distinctive post-card of Salta, famous for its impressive shapes, generated by the erosion of the rain and the wind, and in different charming colours, a mix between red, orange, green and brown.
The journey continues through route 68 traversing the Lerma Valley and its historical towns. Marvel at the rich heritage of the pre-Hispanic history, and admire the rests of the ancient communities: some of the buildings are still entire! This heritage mixes with the colonial tradition, the one you will be able to live in those small churches, full of charm and calm. In your road, pass through the tin tin's line, the rests of the ancient road of the Inca!
After that, marvel at the amazing panoramic views and take your best picture of Los Cardones National Park, the only National Park at 3.384 meters above the sea level in Argentina! You will see the huge Cardons, the typical south American cactus with an incredible perspective of the desert around you. See as well Guanacos and Llamas, the typical local camelids.
We will visit then the town of Cachi, situated in the south of the Calchaqui Valleys, traditional town slept in the time, whose history dates from the colonial times: admire the ancient houses and feel the calm of this mythic place. Enjoy some free time to explore the village at your own rythm and to sample the best of the local cuisine at a typical restaurant.
At the end of the afternoon we return to Salta through the Quebrada de las Conchas or the Shells' Gorge and the Lerma Valley.
