Discover two of California's top attractions in this amazing 2-day tour: enjoy an incredible experience in Yosemite Park, and explore the Alcatraz Islands while imagining yourself being imprisoned in the most famous federal penitentiary in US history!
Day 1 - Yosemite Experience:
Make the most of your time in Yosemite National Park by starting early and traveling efficiently in a 15 Passenger Van or mini-bus.
Spend at least 5 hours inside Yosemite National Park and explore the beautiful wilderness of its deep valleys, waterfalls, giant sequoia trees and much more. When going through the Yosemite Valley, you will stop to see El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls, Inspiration Point (aka the famous Tunnel View), and Yosemite Village.
We also drive to a higher altitude for a chance to hike (two mile roundtrip hike) in the evergreen forest to see the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias - the world's largest living things.
After arriving back to San Francisco, you will get dropped off at your hotel. Get plenty of sleep to prepare yourself for the next day to see the most notorious federal penitentiary in US history - Alcatraz.
Day 2 - Alcatraz Island Tour:
The Alcatraz Island was once a lonely maximum security prison which housed America's most wanted criminals for 29 years, and whose population, including guards and staff, never rose above 500. Since 1973, when Alcatraz has been open to the public, it has become one of the most popular destinations for tourists visiting San Francisco.
Enjoy a ferry and ride across the San Francisco Bay to Alcatraz Island. Upon arrival into the prison, you will receive a headset for the audio presentation called "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell house Tour", which includes 45 minutes of recordings of actual guards and inmates who lived and worked on the Island. Also learn interesting facts about the island, such as that Alcatraz was not only used as a prison but also as a harbor defense fort during the civil war and before then, was America's first lighthouse on the West Coast. At the en of your tour, you will get to explore the Island at your own pace before taking the ferry back to San Francisco!
