Prior to the country’s independence, this 18th-century colonial house is the Governor’s residence. Later it housed Chile’s first president Mateo de Toro. Today, it is a museum showcasing the city’s history through a multidisciplinary collection of works and items from the pre-Spanish period to the 19th century. It is also known as Casa Colorada.
