What To Expect
In the morning, depart towards the Dordogne Valley passing by Carsac-Aillac and Montfort along the way.
Your first stop will be the mighty castle of Castelnaud, a medieval fortress overlooking the Dordogne River and erected to face its rival, the Château de Beynac. Then visit the Milandes Castle. Built around 1489, it was the main house of the lords of Caumont until 1535. In 1940, the entertainer Josephine Baker rented the château and then bought it in 1947.
End the day with a visit to the Castle and Gardens of Marqueyssac. Listed as a National Historical Monument, it offers more than 6 kilometres of shaded paths edged with 150,000 hand-pruned hundred-year-old boxwoods.
