Depart from your hotel and journey towards Mount Seoraksan, also known as Mt. Sorak, the highest amidst Taebaksanmaek Mountain Range which boasts beautiful landscape and scenery all year round. East of teh Hangyeryeong and Misiryeong Ridges is known as Oeseorak; and to the west is Namseorak. The Namseorak area is infamous for its mineral water, hot springs and waterfalls.
Next, we'll proceed to the Gwongeumseong Fortress by cable car. Also known as Mount Onggeumsan Castle or Toto Castle, it is a site of castle ruins located on the steep Dol Mountain in the Mt. Sorak Sogongwon area. It is said to have been built by Gojong, the 23rd King of the Goryeo Period. It is also called Gwon-Kim Castle as there was a legend that two generals named Gwon and Kim built the castle to avoid war. There is a path leading to the castle from the left side of Sogongwon; however it takes over an hour to travel through the steep and rocky path so cable cars are used to reach it.
We'll head over to the nearby Sinheungsa Temple / Sinhung-sa Temple, formerly known as Hyangseongsa. It was built by Jajangyulsa who traveled to famous mountains all over the nation during Queen Jindeok's 6th year of reign. The temple was destroyed many times but was always rebuilt since.
Finally, we'll make a quick stop to the Daepo Fish Market before proceeding to your hotel.
