What To Expect
On this tour, before exploring the city of Ohrid, we make a brief visit to Mavrovo. The captivating Radika River will lead us to the mystic monastery of St. Jovan Bigorski. You will have the opportunity to sight-see around the monastery and its church, considered as unique beauties of the old artisan craftsmanship of wooden carving.
Then, we leave for Ohrid and take a short rest at the city center. After this, we will pass through the Lower Gate to the archaeological museum - The Robev Family House, where there is an ethnological exhibition and where artifacts of the ancient period, such as the statue of the Goddess Isis, are presented.
We continue on to the cathedral church St. Sofia (Holy Wisdom, 11th century), the Ancient Theater (2nd century BC), the gallery of Icons and the church of the Holy Mother of God Beautiful (St. Mary Perivleptos, 13th century).
Next, we visit Samuil Fortress, offering a fantastic view of the Ohrid Lake from the fortification's ancient walls. Then, we descend to the location of Plaosnik (a crossroad of civilizations at the Ohrid Hill) and visit the burial place of St. Kliment and the newly reconstructed church of St. Pantelejmon. We continue with a visit to the church of St. Jovan Kaneo (13th century), one of the trademarks of Ohrid.
On the final leg of our tour, we make a visit to the fisherman settlement of Kaneo, where a boat trip will facilitate further sightseeing from the lakeside. The tour will end at the Ohrid central port. After a short break, we will journey back to Skopje.
