What To Expect
The tour has an intensive itinerary with an extended time for sightseeing. It's an ideal way for people with limited time in Bulgaria to receive as much impressions and treasured memories of the country as they can in just in one day. The program is a combination between the classical daily trips to Koprivshtitsa and Plovdiv with an en route stop at the biggest Thracian Cult Complex near the village of Starosel.
Koprivshtitsa is a museum town with a unique exhibition. In this compact location, over 250 types of Revival Period architecture are preserved. Starting from the monumental Mausoleum commemorating the April Uprising of 1876, we set out along the narrow, winding cobbled streets on our sightseeing tour to the beautifully decorated homes of local merchant Nencho Oslekov, the symbolist poet Dimcho Debelyanov, the Karavelov family and the revolutionary leaders Todor Kableshkov and Georgi Benkovski. We also stop at the famous Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church.
Sightseeing in Plovdiv is like a momentous teleportation through time where tribes and empires have developed their glorious civilizations. The Roman ruins, the colorful Bulgarian Renaissance houses in the Old Town, Turkish buildings and Thracian remains have a lot to tell about the town's turbulent history. Bachkovo Monastery is the located at the door for the main passage to the Central Rhodopi Mountains. The large yard, tall walls, richly decorated church, the miraculous icons and numerous cells and its religious symbolism attract pilgrims from all over Bulgaria.
This trip is excellent for people who enjoy natural beauty, panoramic pastoral views, tranquillity and poetry in architecture.
