“Daenerys in Meereen may not be my favorite storyline but Split is GORGEOUS and it was surreal to be in a Game of Thrones setting. Theresa J., USA – See more reviews
What To Expect
Explore the fictional world of Westeros on a walking tour of Diocletian's Palace. An impressive complex rich with history, Diocletian's Palace is the filming location for the popular television show Game of Thrones. Old, new and fictional worlds collide in this UNESCO World Heritage Site becoming a favorite attraction for both locals and tourists.
Start the tour on the Riva Promenade, a local spot to see and be seen. From here, enter the mythical world of Game of Thrones with a visit to Diocletian's Palace cellars. Follow the footsteps of the warriors entering Meereen to release the slaves for Khaleesi's army. Walk through the palace taking you to the City Museum, a 15th century Gothic building used as another filming location for Game of Thrones, and get a chance to browse through its weaponry, photographs, paintings and old documents revealing why Split is one of Adriatic's most incredible ports.
Continue to the heart of the palace, Peristyle (Peristil), and admire the grandiose World Heritage Monument set for the newest Game of Thrones kingdom. The Peristyle formed the monumental central square leading to the imperial apartments, Diocletian's mausoleum, the Temple of Jupiter and other temples. The 1,700 year old home to Emperor Diocletian is the most preserved symbol of Roman architecture on the Eastern coast of the Adriatic exhibiting a traditional royal villa, Hellenistic town and Roman camp.
Enjoy a feast fit for Tyrion Lannister with a Game of Thrones inspired meal of eggs, bacon, handmade sausages and warm bread with sea salt - a staple of the Westerosi diet. Quench your thirst on local coffee, mint tea and a pint of local beer like a ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.
Finish the tour back on the Riva Promenade.
