Deemed as one of the imposing Roman ruins, the Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is not only an imperial residence but also a military fortress and a fortified town. Visit the cellars of the Diocletian's Palace and learn the history of the palace. Admire the Peristyles of the Diocletian Palace as you explore the palace heading towards the palace's Golden Gate and Silver Gate.
Continue to Cathedral of St. James, originally built as Diocletian's mausoleum, and see a frieze showing Emperor Diocletian and his wife. Marvel at the wooden entrance doors carved with scenes from the life of Christ, the altars with amazing works of art and the choirs furnished with 13th century Romanesque seats.
Then, visit the Temple of Jupiter and greeted with a headless sphinx guarding the entrance. Have a glimpse of its barrel-vaulted ceiling, decorative frieze on the walls and intricate moldings. Considered as one of the well-preserved Roman temples in the world, the Temple of Jupiter was built by Emperor Diocletian believing he was a reincarnation of Jupiter.
