About Vancouver Gastown

It all began here, says Vancouver’s history. Gastown does look beautifully historical, with cobblestone streets, Victorian fixtures, narrow lanes, and original architecture.Tourist officials are so proud of this part of town that they give free walking tours everyday from June to August. Pay a visit to Gassy Jack Deighton, a saloon owner from which the town got its name; his statue is down by Water St. Then make the rounds of museums, restaurants, spas, and shops. Make sure your stops include The Landing, Hill’s Native Art, Deluxe Junk Co., Salmagundi West, Sonar, the Irish Heather Bistro, and Gastown Steam Clock.
