What To Expect
Discover the wonders of the St. Mark's Basilica as you go on an exclusive tour of its interiors after visiting hours!
Start off the tour by meeting up with your guide at the St. Mark's Square. Hear fascinating stories of how a 9th century kidnapping led to the construction of the enormous basilica dedicated to the Saint Mark.
After a history brief, head over to the said basilica where a custodian unlocks the door for you after visiting hours. Step inside and marvel at the basilica's great interiors without having to squeeze in with the hundreds of tourists visiting the basilica. See the world famous Pala d'Oro, a Byzantine altarpiece comprised of more than 1,900 gems.
Come to the basilica's crypt which is known to house the remains of St. Mark. See the stained walls of the crypt which tells the story of the numerous floods that had plagued Venice in the past.
As you go around the basilica, admire the bright illuminated mosaics of the Basilica which stands about 43,000 square feet each.
The tour will end at the basilica.
