What To Expect
From the mid-15th century, the nobles and the wealthy of Venice were preceded by a servant called "Codega" equipped with a lantern to enlighten their path in the darkness of night delighting them with anecdotes and stories.
Your personal host will guide you through a maze of mystery and invite you to take a leap into the past. Be immersed in a moving mise en scene that will drive you into the heart of the Serenissima Republic and its Carnival.
Through the stories of the "Codega", visitors will be escorted to some unusual and secret places of Venice to find out some interesting facts about the history and daily life of the Serenissima Republic.
The tour begins by passing the church of San Zaccaria to see one of two Devil bridges, one located in Torcello and the other located a few steps away from the famous St. Mark's Basilica. Discover what the legends say about the Devil's influence before going down to Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Visitors can dwell in the Courtyard of Palazzo Grimani where Casanova is said to frequent with his friends. Stick to the long Calle Santa Maria Formosa and proceed to St. John and Paul Hospital, with a stop in the Calle Moschette for an important lesson about the use of the fan and its secret messages. Conclude the journey in front of the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni e Paolo with another Venetian legend to cap your tour.
