This tour is a combination of the Walking Tour of Venice, the The Doges Palace and Saint Mark's Basilica.

Learn about the past of Venice while walking along the historic streets of this charming city!

Walk through Piazza San Marco and discover the fascinating history of the main monuments around the area, including the Basilica San Marco, Doge’s Palace, Bell Tower and Clock Tower and Procuratie. Make your way to Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo (Pantheon of Venice), the Great School of Charity before viewing Marco Polo’s House and the Malibran Theatre.

Then, head back to San Marco through the main shopping area, Mercerie, and move to the front of the entry line and take a guided tour through Doge’s Palace. A representation for the seat of the Venetian political power, prepare to be mesmerized in hundreds of works of art. Your guide will show you the halls of power bringing you to the European Middle Ages and the following centuries. Marvel at the intricate details of the gold staircase and of the realism of the scenes depicted by many artists. Relive the anguish of the prisoners crossing the famous Bridge of Sighs, entering the Venetian prisons. Enjoy a guided tour of St. Mark’s Basilica, one of the most majestic Cathedrals in the world. Learn more about Byzantine art and its religious background. Take a glimpse at the gold mosaics and marble floors.

After the visit of the basilica, a free coupon for a visit to a Murano glass factory will be given. Get to discover one of the Venetian greatest arts. Please note this is a free of charge optional trip by private boat to Murano Island (generally scheduled from 2PM to 4PM) and it is not a part of the tour. Be kindly aware that this optional visit could take longer than the scheduled time and that it is not recommend to participate if you have other reservation scheduled on the same day.

You may visit by yourself the other magnificent palaces around St. Mark’s Square under the name of Procuratie. You will discover the way of life of the venetians, with paintings, library, coinage, sculpture. You will be entered in the secrets of Venice Empire, with description of Arsenale who produced the famous battleship Galea. You will visit the area built by Napoleon and the rooms restored for Sissi Empress Austria.

  • Access to the Basilica may not be possible due to church services or exceptional high tides. In these cases, the tour can be held the next day or reimbursed.

  • The optional trip to Murano Island will take approximately two hours.

  • The tour does not operate during religious holidays and in cases of exceptional high tide and bad weather.

  • The tour is not fully accessible for wheelchair users or people with walking disabilities.

  • This tour is not considered private but it is shared with other guests not belonging to the same party.

Cancellation Policy

  • Free cancellation: 8 days or more prior to start date of activity.
  • 20% Cancellation Fee (80% reimbursement): between 4 to 7 days prior to date of activity.
  • 100% Cancellation Fee (no reimbursement): 3 days or less prior to date of activity.
