Days 1-2: Victoria Falls

Kick-off this unforgettable tour in Zimbabwe's adrenaline capital. Victoria Falls is a town on the Zimbabwean side of the falls, with spectacular views and a reputation as the adventure capital of Zimbabwe. Marvel at the sight of white water thundering down Victoria Falls, and be coated in a fine mist of spray as it shoots hundreds of meters into the air. There are many ways to view the falls, with whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling and canyoning just adding to the excitement.

Accommodation: Camping (2 nights, with facilities)

Day 3: Hwange National Park

Cross the border into Botswana and travel to the spectacular environs of Chobe National Park. With a diverse range of ecosystems, a humungous number of elephants and the largest concentration of game found in Africa, Chobe National Park is safari heaven. Boasting a large number of elephant, Chobe is also home to lions, hippos and African fish eagles, which can hopefully be spotted on a water safari down the Chobe River.

Accommodation: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Day 4-5: Matobos National Park/Bulawayo

Explore the country's second largest city before heading out to track black and white rhinos in Matobos National Park.

Accommodation: Camping (2 nights, with facilities)

Day 6: Nata

Choose to rise early and head out on an exciting open-vehicle safari. Try to spot the enormous Chobe elephants making their migration either north or south, depending on the time of year. Afterwards, journey to Nata, a small town situated on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans - some of the largest salt flats in the world, covering around 12,000 sq km. Seasonally covered with watered, and grass, as soon as the rains arrive the pans become a haven for migratory birds and animals.

Accommodation: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Day 7: Blouberg

Head towards Blouberg and camp in South Africa's Limpopo Province, an area that offers a unique and exciting cultural experience. Pursue paths along the base of the Blouberg Mountains and hear stories of the fascinating local community, who still lead a very traditional lifestyle. Later, enjoy authentic local meals such as Thopi and Malana at a village tavern.

Accommodation: Camping (1 night, with facilities)

Days 8-9: Kruger National Park

The tour continues across the border into South Africa. Travel through the expansive savanna and rolling hills of the spectacular Kruger National Park. Created to control diminishing animal numbers due to hunting, Kruger National Park became official in 1926 and is now deservedly one of Africa's premier safari parks. Keep an eye out for the unusual white rhinos, giraffes, zebras, lions and elands. Choose to go on an optional night game drive to see nocturnal predators spring into action, or even set off on an optional early morning nature walk with a guide.

Accommodation: Camping (2 nights, with facilities)

Day 10: Johannesburg

Take a stunning panoramic at the viewpoint over the incredible Blyde River Canyon en route back to Johannesburg, where some last-minute sight seeing and souvenir shopping is a productive way to spend time. It doesn't always have the best reputation, but Johannesburg has fascinating, vibrant places to explore like Soweto, Alexandra, Rosebank Flea Market and its wonderful museums. Resting those well-traveled feet at a local bar or cafe is also an attractive option.
