Walvis Bay sits on a wide lagoon that can be accessed from Swakopmund when you head south. Located down the coast of Namibia, Walvis Bay is a picturesque city of wetlands and sand dunes in southern Africa where several sea birds, pelicans, and flamingos can be found here in their natural habitat.
When in Walvis Bay, enjoy the waters when you go kayaking or you can enjoy a Half Day Catamaran Cruise. Start with a visit to the tip of the sandbank forming the bay at the Pelican Point and see the play of seals and pelicans at the side, and you can even get a chance to spot some turtles and dolphins!
Enjoy a lunch of fresh Walvis Bay oysters with a glass of sparkling wine before heading back past the deep water Harbour of Walvis Bay. En route, you will see an artificial Guano Island (Bird Island) where the Eastern White Pelicans breed and other exotic animals such as Whitebreasted Cormorants, Crowned Cormorants and Cape Cormorants roost.
On land you can also enjoy a 4x4 drive to the freshwater lagoon of Sandwich Harbour where you will get to admire the soft ridges of the surrounding dunes.
