What To Expect
From Warsaw, you will go on a train ride to Auschwitz or Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp during World War II. At the museum, you will have an opportunity to see the shocking gas chambers, the crematorium and the death cells.
After a tour around the concentration camp, you will then proceed to Cracow where you will get to see:
The Royal Castle of Wawel is an imposing gem of medieval architecture that has survived the ravages of time in pristine condition. The former residence of the Piast, Jagiellonian and Vasa dynasties, you'll get an opportunity to admire a unique collection of tapestries once owned by King Sigismund August. You will also visit its Grand Audience Hall, which is known as the 'Hall of Heads'. The wonders of Wawel Castle are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site List.
The Royal Cathedral, one of the finest churches in Poland and an astonishing example of medieval architecture, and Sigismund's Chapel which is also known as the 'Pearl of the Renaissance, North of the Alps.' It is the most outstanding architectural gem of the Renaissance in Poland.
The Market Square and the Cloth Hall, one of the largest squares in Europe and the scene of various historic events. The tour includes a visit to the medieval stalls where you can buy souvenirs including amber and silver jewelry.
St. Florian's Gate, one of the oldest gates in Cracow. This, along with the Barbican, was the Gate of Honour through which the King and his Royal entourage would enter the town.
Kazimierz, the old Jewish District included on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List, and the Old Synagogue which dates back from the 15th Century - the oldest in Poland.
