Description

Day 1 Saturday

Depart Windhoek and travel to the coast. Visit craft market in Okahandja en route. A short lunch stop at Karibib or Usakos is done (for own account). Visit Goanikontes and the Moon Landscape. Arrive at Swakopmund in the afternoon. Possibly meet at dinner fellow travellers who join the tour in Swakopmund.

Stay at Swakopmund - Pension / Guest House in Swakopmund

Day 2 Sunday

Depart early morning on the salt road towards Henties Bay, past some pans and an array of bird life. Visit Twyfelfontein and the Organ Pipes on way into Damaraland. A packed lunch is enjoyed en route. Arrive at the lodge during the late afternoon.

Stay at Damaraland - preferably Twyfelfontein Lodge

Day 3 Monday

Optional morning guided hiking trail where you are introduced to the rich flora and fauna of the area. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon join a sun downer drive in the Aba Huab River and possibly encounter the desert dwelling elephants (seasonal).

Stay at Damaraland - preferably Twyfelfontein Lodge

Day 4 Tuesday

Leave Damaraland. Visit a Himba village near Kamanjab and learn more about the culture and the tradition of this half-nomadic people. Continue via the little town of Outjo. Lunch stop (own expense) - possibly meet fellow passengers joining the Etosha tour. From there continue to Etosha National Park. Arrive in the early afternoon and undertake your first game drive into the park.

Stay at privately owned lodge near Etosha Park - preferably Etosha Safari Camp

Day 5 Wednesday

Day excursion into the Park. Except for the rainy season, Etosha's animals are dependent on artificial waterholes and natural springs. Explore the various waterholes along this enormous saltpan, which is called the "great white place of dry water" in a local language. Lunch stop at one of the rest camps (own expense).

Stay at privately owned lodge near Etosha Park - preferably Etosha Safari Camp

Day 6 Thursday

Encounter the big variety of wild life in the Park one more day. Of the 114 mammals species found in the Park, several are rare and endangered like the black rhino of the black faced impala. Your guide will also introduce you to the complex subject of managing such an enormous reserve. Lunch stop at one of the rest camps (own expense).

Stay at preferably a privately owned lodge near the Park, alternatively a camp inside the Etosha National Park

Day 7 Friday

Depart the Lodge or camp and travel south towards Otjiwarongo. Opportunity to join the group en route to Victoria Falls. Continue towards Windhoek via Okahandja where we will visit a local handicraft market. Tour ends on arrival in Windhoek late afternoon.
