  • Wheelchair Accessibility: Guests with collapsible wheelchairs can be accommodated.
  • Ferry tickets should be treated like cash, and should you lose your ferry ticket, you will be required to purchase another at full price.
  • Children one (1) year old and under are free, but will need to sit on a parent or guardian's lap if there are no available seats.

  • Voucher: Please either print, show electronically (smart phone, tablet, etc.) or present I.D. in exchange for physical tickets.

    Passengers MUST show valid photo identification in order to receive tickets.
  • You will need to book the ferry packages separately if you require round trip service, and book both the Lanai to Maui, and the Maui to Lanai ferry.

Required items to bring & attire

  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • Motion sickness preventative
  • Bring cash as the shuttle and some cafes will only accept cash. ATM’s also available in Lanai City.

Additional notes

  • If you are driving on your own, you will be required to pay a parking fee.
  • There are no guides on this activity.
  • Ferry rides from Lanai may be cancelled later in the day due to inclement weather. In the event that return ferries are cancelled, guest must stay on Lanai overnight at their own expense.
  • Luggage/Bags Policy: You are allowed two (2) suitcases and one (1) carry on, no charge.

    Excess bags, bicycles, surfboards over 7 feet long, sailboards (with bag and mast) and kayaks will be charged a fee and need to be requested in advance.
  • Lanai Ground Transportation:

    There are a few transportation companies that you can contact directly to reserve transportation on the island of Lanai.

    Seats a very limited, you must call them directly to make a reservation.

Q. Is there any narration while on the ferry?
A. No, this is just transportation between the islands Lanai and Maui.
Q. Is there food and drink available for purchase on the ferry?
A. There is water and soda available for purchase on the ferry.
Q. How far in advance should I book ferry tickets?
A. We recommend booking at least 1-2 weeks in advance. If you have very specific schedule requirements and are not flexible, please book sooner. Last minute availability is often possible, but limited.
Q. What kinds of boats will be used?
A. Expeditions: A 38 foot powerboat, white with "Expeditions" in red letters on its side. Coast Guard approved for 36 passengers, with a maximum of 24 covered seats.

Expeditions II: A 50 foot powerboat, white with "Lahaina-Lana'i Ferry" in yellow letters on its side. Coast Guard approved for 64 passengers, with a maximum of 42 covered seats.

Expeditions IV: A 65 foot power catamaran, light gray with "Lahaina-Lana'i Ferry" in yellow letters on side. Coat Guard approved for 149 passengers, with a maximum of 120 covered seats.

Expeditions V: A 55 foot power catamaran, light gray with "Maui-Lana'i Ferry" in yellow letters on side. Coast Guard approved for 108 passengers,with a maximum of 80 covered seats.
Q. Will we see whales?
A. Every year Humpback Whales migrate to the warm waters of Hawaii, and although not guaranteed, they are often seen between the months of December and April.
